Question Installing new speakers?

Hello all,

I want to replace my front and back speakers in my King Cab. I do not know if I should do it myself or if I should pay to have them installed. How hard is it to take out the old ones and install new ones? If I were to buy and install them myself, I would probably buy them from Crutchfield. I believe they give you a tool to take off the door panels. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for speakers that will give a deeper bass sound. If you know of any speakers that are not very expensive but provide good bass please give me the name of them too. Thank you!

I would suggest either having a quality shop do it, or do it yourself. A cheap shop will probably not make an adapter.

The front and rears both need an adapter that must be built (usually out of wood). Do you have access to a jig saw? If you do they are very easy to make. All you have to do is trace the factory speakers onto a piece of wood, then cut it out, then cut a hole for your new speaker.

Crutchfield *may* have speaker adapters premade, but I doubt it. At any rate I suggest a 6 1/2" Speaker in both front and rear, you may get more bass out of a 6x9, but the sound quality goes downhill with those.

Do you currently have the rockford system? Are you planning on powering of the deck? What is your budget?
