new stereo

if i had the factory nav and wanted to put in a new sub, speakers and amp, would the nav have to go

No. I have factory NAV w/ Rockford Fosgate and used Navone LOC, Scosche connectors NN03 & NN03R, Audio Control Matrix pre-amp to send signals to two aftermarket amps driving two component sets and one sub.

I think the NAV might have to go if you wanted a new headunit.

You can also use an Avelectronic video switcher to send other video sources to the factory NAV. I used one to add a carputer and a backup camera.

Actually it's NN03B and NN03RB. Someone actually did install an aftermarket HU with OE Nav, let's see if I can pull up the thread.

Hmmm, can't find it, but it has been done. But I recall reading that the wiring was a pain.
