Question Got amps??? Need advice...

I just ordered an Kenwood xxv-03 amp to push my 2 Kicker solobaric subs. I was wondering if anyone out there is having any problems with the alternator not puting out enough power to supply everything. Has anyone found any aftermarket alternator that put out more watts/amps?
Thanks...

Re: Got amps??? Need advice...

I exchanged emails with http://www.excessiveamperage.com/ they indicate that they can build a 200 amp alternator to fit.

I haven't explored pulley & belt size. Also, I would imagine this would involve running 0 gauge cable to the amp and a 250 amp fuse in the hot cable.

I think the Titan uses a Hitachi alternator:

LR1130-701
12v-130A nominal rating
Negatvive ground polarity
1,200 RPM Minimun revolution under no load (when 13.5 volts is applied)

Hot output current (when 13.5 voltage is applied)

More than 78A/1,800 rpm
More than 108A/2,500 rpm
More than 130A/5,000 rpm

14.1-14.7V @ 25C regulated output voltage

6mm (0.24 in) minimun length of brush

1.0-3.432 N (0.102-0.3501 kg. 0.22-0.7715 lbs) brush spring pressure

26mm (1.02 in) Slip Ring outer diameter

2.1 ohms Rotor (field coil) resistance

I think I deleted the email. I recall something like $350. Hopefully smoketitan has this info. I seem to recall a lower than 200 A @ idle, and they full 200 A by 2,000 RPM or perhaps lower.

Re: Got amps??? Need advice...

if there are 10 people (bestatchess correct me if im wrong) the price was 350, if not its closer to 460 for single buyers

basically due to the size, location, and high OEM cost, aftermakret alternators for the titan are goign to be expensive for a few more years

and why people will continue to stress the alternator thinking its okay, ade myself and bestachess continue to explain that the alternator is MAX 130A at 5000 rpms, which means its closer to 60-80 at idle

which is COMPLETLEY inadeqaute for a truck this size, for example the ram is 185A stock,

untill then IMO keep the total power to no more than 1000W and dont run the stereo without driving the car or say by by to your battery lol

What amps are you running and how do you have everything configured... You can get 2500 out of the system but you should at least be having some problems....

2500 watts at 13.8 volts = 181 amps. (at 100% amplifier efficiency)

Re: Got amps??? Need advice...

There is a group buy on Iraggi Alternators on SoundDomain.com going on right now. I think it goes till Feb 1. He's offering up to a 30% discount on alternators purchases. I think the discount was 1% for each person that buys up to 30%. I called him about a HO alternator for the Titan and he quoted me 361.06 for a 200A model with a lifetime warrenty which included the 30% discount. I think the original price was 399 for the alternator and 99for the lifetime warrenty before any discounts. The alternator by itself comes with a one year warrenty. I paid for mine last week so I'll let you guys know how it works when I get it.

Thats great and all, but I checked out that guy a few months back. His reputation sucks and there are LOTS of complaints about him, his products, and his customer service. I'd rather look towards someone else like a local alternator rebuild shop, www.ohiogen.com or even Excessive Amperage. The extra money I pay would be worth the piece of mind that there is customer service to back up the products.
