Sub being underpowered? sub and amp help, again.

Hello all, just got my new sub in today. Hooked up everything and man am I dissapointed. My setup is as followes
2 gauge wire for power and ground
Very quality home theater rca cables
A JBL gto 601.1 http://www.cardomain.com/item/JBLGTO6011II
and 1 audiobahn AW1206t http://www.cardomain.com/item/ABNAW1206T
I have the sub wired for two ohms
a sealed box with 1.25 cu ft capacity
a jvc kdlh810 http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/KDLH810.html

The sub for its power just isint that powerful. I had a much lower performing (around 500 rms) 15 in audiobahn in there before this 12 flame q. The range is incredible i get low tones the 15 didnt even pick up, but it sounds like a much lower power sub. The gain on the amp is 3/4 the way up, crossover is set to about 70herts. It is my amp not giving it enough power? If so how could this be? I had a 15 inch l5 kicker and that thing made my head hurt, I couldnt even turn it all the way up. Should I take it to a audio place and let them have a gander?

First of all, it's not a fair comparrsion (the 15" vs the 12"). Larger woofers are more efficient than smaller ones. Their greater displacement allows them to move more air for a given stroke. Output is all about displacement! The vehicle has alot to do with output. A hatchback is much more "bass friendly" than a truck for example.
Enclosure is key to performance. Make sure that the enclosure is not only the correct size, but is positioned in the vehicle correctly. If you have a 12" subwoofer and your back seats are still intact, I'm not so sure that you have enough space. A 10" driver in a proper enclosure will eat a 12" woofer's lunch if the later was in an enclosure that is too small.
The main thing is here is that at least you're not out a lot of cash and the woofer looks so pimp.

yeah i actually got the box at walmart (flame on) it is made by the people who make the worst aftermarket HU adapter for the titan ever (schoshe) it uses screws all over the place so i took sum carp. glue and glued the inside seams. then i caulked over the glue. The box seems a tad on the small side, and these subs are meant for a ported application, so your saying its probably my box?
