IPod w/ video thought

I'm pondering this thought. If I buy an Alpine w/ video screen that has the new IPod connector can I watch video from the IPod while the vehicle is moving and I have not defeated the e-brake on the Alpine? Hope I worded this question so it makes sense.

well if the alpine head unit is hooked up legally than no you couldnt as the screen itself would not work with out the e-brake on

Alpine's iPod adapter is audio-only in any case. You can hear the audio from any videos you may have, but the adapter doesn't handle video.

Re: IPod w/ video thought

I do beleive there is a VIDEO out cable for the ipod so you could run that into a line in on your deck but then you would have to control the ipod manually.

oh and to make it shwo while you drive all you have to do is find the ground wire they run to your ebrake and ground it for good

Re: IPod w/ video thought

alpines take a combination of steps to bypass video. there's a pac tr7 device and a few others that take care of that quickly otherwise relays and more wire must be used.

Re: IPod w/ video thought

I have the Alpine IVA-D310, and my installer put in a push button and a toggle to simulate the brake action. It's not automatic like the PAC-TR7 module, but I don't use it that often and it works fine. (The switches were also free from my installer, unlike the PAC module)

Re: IPod w/ video thought

Alpine uses a series of braking switches.... one that is to ur ebrake and one that goes to ur actual foot pedal... using a toogle switch or pac will bypass this easily...

Re: IPod w/ video thought

Did this on Pioneer Avic-N2. Probably same on most aftermarket decks. But the ipod mini jack to 3 rcs connector plug minijack into the top where you ear phones are connected. The Rca's Red White and Yellow go to the back of the deck or in my case to the brain under my pass. seat. Yellow to video red to audio white to audio. Then you will have to use the ipod manually. I also bought the ipod adapter for the Pioneer head unit but you can't connect both at the same time to the ipod. If you want to use Movies off of the ipod you will have to use the Rca method. If you prefer to listen to high quality music then connect to adapter.

if wired as directed, you must do the following with the alpine units
- keep foot brake depressed
- pump the parking brake 3 full cycles; leave it engaged at the end
- release foot brake

thanks, i'll give the above adapter a try once i get my stuff in.
