Question Audio enhancers sub box???

I just got the box in and it looks like the JL 10 W-3's I want to put in it will be rubbing the carpet! It doesnt look like there is enough clearance. Anybody have any suggestions???

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

Run the sub thru a planer.

Seriously though, how much is the mouting depth of the box, and of the speaker? You could recess the speaker in the box if there is enough room, but then again why buy a prebuilt box if you have to mod it.

The lesson to be learned here is that home depot sells some nice tool kits very cheap. A ryobi circular saw and jig saw is all you need to make a box.

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

Screw some feet onto the bottom of the box on all the corners. Preferably hard rubber tapered cone type with coarse thread screw in center. Just make sure the seats don't bottom out on top.

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

The box came with feet but there still doesnt seem to be enough clearance. I have the subs in a couple og wedge typ boxes as a temporary solution but it isnt very comfortable for people if they are in the back. The mountin depth of the box is 5 3/4 which is the same as my subs.

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

You know, I thought that having the sub pretty close to the carpet was gonna sound bad, but it makes not difference. As long as you have at least a finger's gap around the surround, it will be fine. I was going to space mine up, but I don't think it needs it. Now if you don't even have finger's clearance, I would consider spacing it up a bit.

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

As long as you have enough clearance that would amount to the factory JL grill then it will be fine. That's exactly how the JL stealth box is with the 10w3v2 and it sounds fine.

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

so did you try it out or you just think it will hit? when in a sealed box, subs won't travel the same as out the box. i thought mine facing up was hitting and it's not.

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

I cut out an area in my rear mats for the woofers...Helped for more clearance...Now the subs fire through the holes in the mats.

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

I took out the mats and got some smaller universal gray mats. They fit right in front of the box. Although when I rebuild my box I am going to try and make it taller just so I can put the original mats back in.

Re: Audio enhancers sub box???

I took out the mats also and used the front mats side ways in the back so the "titan" logo on the front mats are not sideways or upside down. They also help cover the middle seat floor area in the back. I have rubber mats up front to catch snow, rain water, dirt until winter is over. Sooner the better.
