Any input of powered subs?

I am thinking about adding some bass to mt truck. I am not looking for anything major, rather some filling for lows. I have always been a Kenwood guy and am considering going with one of theirs. Any ideas of the sound quality?

Re: Any input of powered subs?

Never heard the powered Kenwoods, but I've never been too impressed with Kenwoods subs. However, the powered Bazooka tubes are actually really nice. You can pick them up on Ebay for a steal. The 8's hit like a 10's and the 10's hit like 12's. Even the little 6.5's sound decent. I had a pair of the 8's in my first truck and they sounded great for all types of music. The 8s might even fit under the rear seat of a crew cab. Wiring them up is easy too.

Re: Any input of powered subs?

I had bazookas back in the day. i replaced the cheapy sub w/ a JL and it would really bump. The tubes sound so good due to the ported enclosure.

I think amplified subs are good for people on a budget or a quick install.

It all just depends on your budget and what kind of performance you want.

Re: Any input of powered subs?

I had a bazooka tube (6.5") in my old truck. Sounded decent.

Re: Any input of powered subs?

Any idea if one of these bass tubes would fit under the rear crew cab seat?

Re: Any input of powered subs?

I think the 8" would fit ok. I believe that the 8" tubes measure pretty much exactly 8" in diameter, and the clearance under a crew cab seat slopes from about 7.5" to about 8.5". It'll be close, but it should work fine. It would need to be strapped down. Don't think the 10" would work though.

Re: Any input of powered subs?

I'm not a fan of Bazookas. They just don't produce the bass I like for the room they take up. I did have the Kenwood Woox in my old Toyota pickup. I was only running a 30 x 4 HU with polk ES front and rear 2-ways, so the added bass (100 watts) was just right to enhance an otherwise low powered system. It had a nice boost dial with a phase switch and frequency dial. Have you checked the Infinity Bass Link self powered? I hear they're not bad.
