I would need to look at my library to see what might be useful. Knowing how each type of component works goes a long way in understanding a schematic diagram. In fact trying to understand a specific schematic is a good way of learning how components work. You can also download some Freebe circuit analysis programs and try and see if you can understand the Demo circuits they have. Look up 5Spice and TI Tina Spice.

The thing to understand with any analysis or predictive software. The results are only as good as the models and the analysis routines.

I don't know man, mine works 10x better than when I had my PAC LOC hooked up. And I have zero noise. I did another Titan a few weeks ago and he had alternator noise too. He had an old Fosgate amp and wanted a new one anyway so he bought a new Alpine and we swapped it out this past Saturday. We also moved the ground to a seat bracket bolt instead of on the back wall. He now has zero noise as well. So if you have good amps, try a different ground. As for the volume, you have to remember this is probley only a 1 volt or less preamp signal, so maybe that's what your experiencing. The stereo goes up to 31, and you generally want your loudest clean setting to be 3/4 volume, which is about 24. Mine hits loud and clear on 24 and I can go up to 26 or 27 before I hear any noticable distortion. I think you are just used to your LC6 giving you your volume at a lower number is all.

I just did a JL system, including LOC, Stealthbox, and 500/1... sounds hot, no noise whatsoever. Obviously more expensive going with the LOC, but not as expensive as getting a new deck...

Is there a way to add an aftermarket amp without the use of a LOC on an RF system?

There is a guy currently testing this mod on a fosgate deck. When he get's it all back together and if all is successfull I plan to add the info needed for that deck. So stay tuned.

why go through all that why not just buy a simple high to low converter all u gotta do is go out and get urself one 10 buck remove the panel remove ur stereo 10 min remove ur wiring harness 3 mins tap into the from right speakers and front left speaker ground it and the blue wire normally used in afermarket radios to turn the amp should go in ur ignition i think its the yellow one forgot either way the radio should have each wire labeled just look for the one that says memory and ur set hook up ur rca's change the crappy door speakers and u got a premium sound

Well if you are picky about sound quality you will have less noise by using preamp outputs as oposed to using LOC and amplifying the noise from the factory radio amps at the high end.

I just finished this mod on my 2006 Armada, the circuit boards were the same and so far so good. It was a pain in the #&*%$ but worth the effort for me, maybe not for all.

Good luck!

Re: How-To:Getting a pre amp signal from OEM midline 6-CD stereo

Good Lord!
Excuse my complete ignorance on this subject...PLEASE!

OK, so I have a Fosgate Punch amp that I want to hook my JL Audio 12" Sub (inside a custom bandpass box, bridged to 2ohms) directly to my system...but there's NO way that I'm capable of doing this mod.
In my last truck (a 2002 Dakota) - I simply spliced into RF+/- and LF+/- for my 1" piezo tweets on my door pillars, and (for leads to my amp) directly into RR+/- and LR+/-, ran the leads under the dash, under the doorsills, to the highpass inputs on the amp, ran the 'remote' to the fusebox, a 10-gauge lead direct to the battery, and grounded it less than 8" from where the amp was mounted (under the back seat) - and NEVER had any problem whatsoever...it sounded GREAT (the look on people's faces when they saw the stereo they were hearing was priceless!!! )

But, after reading all this, I'm completely unsure about how to go about all this. I don't want to spend more money to 'do it right' - I just spent $38,000 on an '07 SE CrewCab with 8" ProComp lift, 35X12.50 18's and all the upgrades (adjustable pedals, backup sensors, full power driver's seat, towing package, heated tow mirrors, etc.) and all the chrome you can get.
So, all in all, what does it take to get ahold of a wiring diagram for the 6-disc changers in these things, so that I'll know which wires to splice into? I've already torn apart my dash, and with one look at the top of the stereo, and realizing there's no diagram or color-code there, I put it all back together and await some sort of seriouisly dumbed-down response that I can understand.

Thanks in advance!
(Oh, and GREAT forum!)

** UPDATE:
I ran leads to my tweets directly from the dash tweeters...it worked flawlessly. Then, I pulled my door panels off the rear doors, spliced into the factory wiring for the door mids, ran the wire through the loom outside the door directly to my amp, 12V direct to the battery, and the remote to a blank IGN 15V fuse. Works like a charm!

Just thought I'd post an update. It's now been over a year since I've done this and it's still working perfectly! This mod was well worth the effort.
