I'm looking into the 6000S. I'm not a real serious audiophile and am just looking for a good deal on some midline components. How much better are the 6500S set?
Are there any other more mainstream brands out there that sound similar?
I'm partial to Boston Acoustics for the more expensive stuff. If I was to get a cheaper set of components I would probably say Alpine first and maybe infinity. I think Polks and RF are too flat.

The frequency response on the 6500's is 50hz-20khz....not to shabby and should play the pretty low for a good upfront bass response. The sensitvity is rated at 91.5db which means they should play fairly decent on low powered systems... They have a 150 watt RMS rating which means they should also be able to handle power in the 200-300 range fairly easy. It appears they are using a vented silk dome tweeter which should produce accurate and warm sound. They don't post much specs so that's all I could find.....If they sound good both on/off axis is really hard to know without testing them. I also couldn't find any info for the passives either....

While I was waiting on the 11KV2 I was running them w/o any sub. I found them far preferable to the OEM RF system, even w/o any sub.
ED has an EU-700 sub. I was wondering if anybody mounted them in the rear doors. I think RCANTU bought some of them. 6500s in front and a couple of EU-700s in the rear doors might make a decent, inexpensive install for somebody that doesn't want anything under the seats (provided that they will fit in the rear doors).
yes I tried them in the doors. It sounded like @$$ to me. I have my doors dampened and it never sounded right. I did different polarities for phasing, adjusted frequencies, etc... but no go. I put them in a box and they sound great. ED thought it was my error but I disagree. On their board most people commented the door thing was that good. The freeair reviews are good as well as sealed and vented. They're in my truck right now until I get my new set up.
I will sell them when I get back from vacation.
btw ED stuff has a 3 year warranty so that's pretty darn good.
