what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

What sub set up can get the best SPL using the rear seats...

4- 8"s ported
2- 10"s ported
2- 12"s sealed
1- 12" ported

All this with about 500 to 600watts RMS...

Re: what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

Surface area tells me 2-12's sealed. However there are a lot of factors. SPL systems are typically ported though, I cant think of a single SPL setup that was sealed. I would go one good 12 in a corectly built/tuned enclosure (This could be difficult in the titan if you wish to keep the rear seats, but I am sure it could be done)

Re: what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

A wall behind the front seats with 4 of these ported should be enough to stop your heart.

4 10s sealed should yield good SPL if powered properly.

Re: what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

I guess a valid question is are you "serious" about SPL, or do you just want a lot of kick a$$ bass. I run a ported 15" right now, but I am weaning myself out of the SPL thing and leaning towards 2 sealed 12's. I guess my ears are telling me it is time to grow up a little...

Re: what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

Man, you're really flipping back and forth on the audio thing, LOL. You were posting about being interested in the little powered Kenwood 6.5" sub and now you are interested in high SPL with 2 sealed 12's. I bet some sealed 12's would do you good. Get some good SQ subs like some Adire Kodas or something. They take 300W a piece and have low volume and depth requirements.

Re: what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

Again I'm no expert but AFAIK ported subs have a basic set of pro/con vs sealed.

Pros: More efficient, Hit louder.
Cons: Need more space, hit loud at a narrower freq compared to sealed.

I'm fan of the cleaner sound from sealed subs. Ported gives you more bang for your buck but less musical IMHO.

Re: what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

I agree with liz! Get 2 12" Adire Kodas.. I've been wondering how they would fit in a Titan.

Re: what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

I had 2 12 inch a/d/s subs sealed which had 1000+ watts. I sold them to a younger guy and he was impressed w the output. It was loud and clear which some people like to call SQL.

The problem is there aren't that many larger subs that fit under the seat.

I got a new 12 inch on order which can handle the power and space. It's gonna be nice...stay tuned

I know first of all that with the space under the rear seats that we got isnt enough to get all out SPL outputs... Im not looking for extreme SPL output also, I rather have more of a moderate average SQ set up and listen to music the way it was intended to...

Why Im I asking for SPL outputs, well some weekends I take my truck to my favorite fishing spot, and I would like the music to be heard nice from several feet away, thats all... I leave my truck parked about 30 to about 60 feet from where Im fishing, and well it would be nice to be able to hear the bass also not just the mids and highs...

Thats all...

THX again...

Re: what sub set up can yield the highest SPL?

Are the Kodas Finaly available? I may just pickup a 12" for mine or maybe just a 10 since I have a KC...I was waiting for those things for forever!

Where is a good place to purchase them?

Won't that scare off all the fish and Kill you rbattery?
