Need help selecting a high power 8-10" sub with shallow mounting depth...

I've been looking for a good 8-10" sub that can handle 600watts RMS and fit under the rear seats without much trouble. I'm thinking that 5 1/2 inches of mounting depth is about all I can get away with for a comfortable fit without using fiberglass, raising seats, etc...

It looks like the Treo SSI 10.44 would be a good choice with huge power handling and 5.2" mounting depth. The MA Audio MA1000xl looks like it might work too, but the 5.8" mounting depth might be cutting it close.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for a good sounding sub that will meet the power and mounting depth requirements?

I like the Treo option. Also consider Elemental Designs 11Kv.2, Atomic EN10, and Crossfire CF310D. I only say those b/c I've used those subs in an enclosure to the specs as you described.

If you don't want to build your own box and if you have a CC. I can get you a great package deal on a Elegonics box and that eD specific sub. (see my link below). If you plan to build yourself that's great, let us know if you need help.

Good luck on your system regardless of which route you go.

Both Rockford Fosgate and Pioneer have shallow mount woofer in 10's and 12's. And with a mounting depth of less than 4 inches they will go anywhere. Great power handling for both (more than 600watts)

Yeah, those are nice, and they are rated for more than 600 watts max power, but I'm just a little leery of running 600 watts of RMS to subs with a much lower RMS power rating.

I really like those Treo SSI's. Also check out the Adire subs. They have pretty shallow mount depths on most of their models.

Get two

I run earthquake SWS-10, 3" depth, .3 cubed reccomended. You could fit two of those in your system and then you wouldn't be over powering them.

Good point, but I forgot to mention that I really would like to leave half of the floor space open under the seats for storage, etc... Thanks for your input though.

Cool, thanks, I'll check out the Adire subs as well...I've also been looking at the 10" Diamond Audio d6.

ARC Audio www.arcaudio.com
Adire Koda www.adireaudio.com
DLS Iridium (single) http://www.dls.se
Sound Splinter RLI 10" (might be a tight fit) www.soundsplinter.com

Are all very good SQ subs with less than 6 inch mounting depth and are made to fit in small enclosures. I think the ARC sub you can remove the backplate to gain some space. Adire koda 10" is supposed to be out this week (yea sure) and has very shallow mounting depth). If I had a choice I would get the DLS, but it has more specific requirements and not as shallow as koda's.

You did not specify how many ohms your amp runs 600 watts RMS at.

From my understanding if you angle the sub you can get more than 5.5 inch mounting depth but not much.

Arc and sondsplinter are cheapes with DLS the most expensive but supposed to be better than W6 for SQ and about as loud with less mounting depth, same for kodas (which are not out yet). kodas are cheaper than the DLS Iridium 10" as well and they have a configuration of that sub for prettymuch any amp.

It's 600watts RMS into 2ohms (Rockford Fosgate Power BD 500.1)

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll look into those subs as well.
