tonneau cover help

hey guys... well two things... first off i just had an 8 inch touschscreen installed above the dash, similar to the stock nav system... but to me it looks freaking sweet... i mean an 8 inch screen right there... and i know i know i dont have a pic up right now... it will be up very soon dotn worry... i also changed my system a month or so ago... i went from 2 rockford p3's to 4 rockford p2's under my kc back seat... it POUNDS now... and when the slim rockford p3's dome out those will be under the seat as well as a second amp... ok so that was off topic... anyways why i am writing this is i am looking for a nice cover for my truck..

i was just wanting some help from you guys like names of companies that have tonneaus for our truck, also pics of installed covers, and prices if you have them... i would really appreciate this guys... thanks so much in advance!!

also if you guys have any reccomendations on which are the most durable, easiest to install/uninstall, best features, etc... thanks again!

Re: tonneau cover help

I take it a soft cover isn't an option?

I like the fold a covers, but they make the utilitrack kind of worthless.

Re: tonneau cover help

I'm really happy with my Lazer Lite cover. I've had it for over 6 months and it still looks as good as new.

Re: tonneau cover help

If you like something that fold, look into the Advance Cover, Bak Flip, Fold a Cover. Non folding cover such as Lazer Lite, ARE, LEER.

Re: tonneau cover help

A vote for the Advance folding. I've had it on for about 2 years and love it. It hooks up to the utilitrak, so you don't lose that. I keep my bed extender in the back too, flipped into the bed, so I have about 2' in the rear that things won't slide all the way back, and I can get to easily through the tailgate or the cover, just lifting up the back part. If you have it on, and are out and need to haul something that would make it in the way, you can fold it up behind the cab, or turn a couple of small screws with your fingers and lift it out, and fold it in the bottom of the bed. About 2 hours to put it in.

Re: tonneau cover help

Here's a vote for the bakflip. I am really satisfied with mine. It is much like the advance or fold-a-cover but can fold up against the back of the cab so the entire bed can be used without removing anything and is available for around $520 if you shop around. Other options you may want to consider are the roll-up covers such as the retrax, roll-bak, truckCoversUSA or the Peragon (not really a roll-up but I don't know how else to classify it).

Re: tonneau cover help

My Dad's ReTrax is the cat's meow......it rolls up into a little box behind the cab....I think he paid about $900 for it.

Re: tonneau cover help

I personally have never owned a cover of any kind but I do deal with my dad's very often....before his ReTraxx, he had a nice A.R.E. and after dealing with both, I'd never ever ever own a hard cover....the ReTraxx rules.

Re: tonneau cover help

I just can't justify the cost and inconvience of a hard cover (even if it isn't often, I am guessing that at some point you will want to move something larger and have to remove a hard cover). Especially considering you own a smoke titan the folding covers look really good. The bakflip is pretty low profile and pretty much matches the bed rail caps. I know the retrax is really low profile as well. If you are really set on a hard cover my personal favorite when looking at some was the lazer-lite (again really low profile; See a trend in my preferences )

i definately agree the cost is out of this world... but the bakflip caught my eye especailly when you said it was close to the plastic on the bed rail.... ill have to look into that... also i had an idea, im sure i am gonna take some shots in the head after saying this-lol... but my buddy has a dodge ram daytona with the wing on the back and he took it off because he was gonna get it painted to match his truck and any way while it was off we set it on my truck just to see what it looked like and before we did it i was thinking to myself i cant believe im doing this! but when we set it on the back of the bed rail it actually looked pretty sweet.. the black plastic matched our bed rail almost perfectly.. and i THOUGHT POSSIBLY of getting a hard top cover and getting the daytona wing that he had and paint it and put it on the cover... in my head it sounded like a cool idea but i wouldnt really know until i did it... but now after hearing about the bakflip cover i could still maybe get the wing and just leave it the black plastic and it owuld still match... i dunno though... but im sure there will be some people not liking the idea-lol give me your thoughts please both bad and good... i wont take offense to it.. we all have our own thoughts of what looks good and bad... sorry for the long post if your still reading this-lol

Re: tonneau cover help

IMO, spoilers like we see on cars don't look right on trucks. I'm a big fan of the "lip spoilers" like we see on the Silverado SS, those can definitely look on the right street truck (yours probably being one of them). But if you're set on adding the Ram-style spoiler, I'd get the painted tonneau and paint the spoiler to match. Just a black spoiler will look awkward on your Smoke truck.

Re: tonneau cover help

Lund Tri-Fold soft cover. On/Off with 4 hand clamps. NO hardware. 299 shipped e-truckfitters. Keeps my stuff dry, looks good. Cheap. easy on easy off, NO installation hardware. Maybe not what you want, but I'm real happy with mine. It was cheap and it is easy to remove, cause you WILL need to take it off sometimes.
