Hello all, I'm new to Nissans

I just picked up my 2006 Nissan Titan Crew Cab with 6-disk changer and now want to install a motorized in dash dvd/cd/nav monitor...

there is no aftermarket kits that I have found for this installation yet...I'm sure someone has tried this and can gimme some advice?

Thank you in advance!

Re: Installing a in dash dvd player into my Titan

you must have an LE with dual climate controls right?

If that is the case metra is making them now, but shipping in very limited quantities, the only place you will find them is ebay.
Scoshe is planning on makeing them someday.

if you don't have the LE w/dual climate, then the kits are readily availible and a dime a dozen.. except the color may be off...

I think it is ilegal to have a dvd screen that can be viewed by the driver. Atleast in Texas it is.

it is ilegal in all 50 states if im not mistaken. The newer models of in-dash DVD players have little giro's in them that can tell when the car is moving. Like mine, once im going over 15 mph my screen shuts off. This is even w/ the little parking brake switch trick. This is why I am fiberglassing a 7'' screen where the factory deck use to be and then im moving my 6.5'' flip out down where the tow mode button is. All I will have to do is find a place to put that button and everthing else there.

Re: Installing a in dash dvd player into my Titan

Yes it is illegal in all 50 states to have tv viewable to the drive while driving...but my main question is how to convert the cd player and climate control area into a single din to install a standard player?

do you have the dual climate or not?

if you don't then just get a kit, or the better way is an XE bezel + a single din pocket. Use the mounting brakets off of the factory RF to mount your single din stereo and the single din multipurpose pocket.

if you have the dual climate, then just hit up ebay for the kit.

The best option is to get the nissan XE bezel. then get a pocket. going this route the HU may sit 1/4" back to far, this can be fixed by putting some washers behind the mounting braket to bring it out all pretty

The metra kit is decent, but the pocket is 1/2 din and there is some extra room above the HU. This kit brings the hu out flush, but doesn't look as pretty installed.

only for some reason that price is way high, I only paid 35$ for the bezel.

The scoshe kit is junk, don't bother.

The bezel fits perfect, but when you mount your HU, it will sit a hair to far back and you will see a small gap. To bring this forward just put some washers behind the mounting brakets of the HU to move it forward the 1/4".

This method ends up using the same brakets that are holding your factory RF adapter in. Take them off of the RF deck, and put them on the new deck, also put the pocket on. Then instead of just screwing the brakets back into place, put a couple of washers behind them so the mounting brakets don't mount so far back.

No prob man, I upgrade my stereo about weekly, so I have tried all the bezels and know what works and what doesnt.

The kenwood deck your getting... have you considered a double din? I have the single din kvt-915 right now, but am kind of thinking of going double din because it looks a little more stock... but then I loose the pocket and the removable face... so I am undecieded.. I am just wondering your reason on the single over the double, most people here do double.

For nav the new kna-g510 unit works awesome. I put mine in a couple of weeks ago and love it, by far the best nav I have seen to date. The speed of it is incredible compared to any dvd based nav, and its half the price of all the previous models.

The Ipod connector from kenwood is pretty decent... am anti-ipod these days so I got rid of mine.

For an alarm I did a prestige remote start/alarm/pager The install took forever (first timer on this one) but works great.. the price is the best part, they go for 150$ on ebay new. Make sure you get a transponder bypass and get ready to say goodbye to a key if you do the remote start.

For speakers/amp... well ask me when your ready... the kenwood amps are decent but 2x the price they should be, but your kenwood deck will be able to control the xovers and gain which is very cool.

Angry Re: Installing a in dash dvd player into my Titan

OK So here's what i've bought...but I already ran into a problem:

I got the kendwood 717 in dash dvd....

Reasons over dual din: 1 if I wanted dual din i woulda gone with the factory nav setup and modded it =P. 1 reason is security...dual din screams steal me. the removable face and security code with this unit make me feel a bit better. and the look. I love a fully motorized screen auto ejecting from my dash...the wow factor is def bigger.

I also got the nav we were talking about earlier, and the ipod controls...but get this...

I wanted to go with XM radio...BUT, you cant have ipod interface controls and XM radio....

So I went with Sirius (which I now think will be better anyways)

BUT lol....the kenwood is compatible with xm nav traffic...so <shrug> I also went with the XM satelite nav traffic.

Also picked up a wireless radar/laser detector.

Looking at a autopage alarm with remote install...this I don't really wanna do myself... but I got qouted $500 installed with transpoder thing you were talking about....so I'm going to go with that, oh yeah and it comes with auto-start installed to.

Here's the problem...I just picked up my Titan today !!! YAY! I love this truck...but the new bezel I got (04 xe you recomended) doesn't allow space for the dual climate display.

Is this display move-able? Could I mount it below the single din screen? Or am I stuck trying to cut <eek> the new bezel?

Thanks again for all your help so far...

Sorry man, until the other one comes out you are going to have to cut. Do it this way.. cut it as nice as you can, and live with it for a month or two until the other kit comes out and then buy that.

And I know what you mean about the XM nav... My HU is sirius, but the new NAV unit I bought for the HU is XM. . . Damned either way.

Fortunatly for me I live in a rural area so XM traffic and weather don't have anything for my area.
