Rockford Fosgate

Hey everyone, new here...

I have a 2004 Nissan Titan with the Rockford Fosgate setup. Don't know if it's stock or not, but there is 2 subwoofers mounted underneath my front seats. However, the stock head-unit cuts out when it's been playing over the volume 12 for 45 minutes or so. I'm curious to know what the STOCK Rockford Fosgate setup consists of? I did a search and couldn't turn up much about it. What's the deal?

Besides all that, I have a full setup ready to install in a couple weeks. I'm looking for insight on what stuff I might be able to re-use or work from... Thanks!!

Re: Rockford Fosgate

Stock RF in 2004 had a single sub under the driver's seat. There is an external amp mounted up under the driver's side dash on the firewall. Perhaps the second sub is a bit much for the under-powered oem amp.

Re: Rockford Fosgate

Mine has one sub under the drivers seat, 3 speakers on the dash, 2 in the front doors, 2 in the KC rear doors.

Re: Rockford Fosgate

I curious as to how anyone mounted two subs under the driver's seat. It's a bit of a squeeze with just one shallow mount 10".

Thanks.

I didn't mean to confuse, I have 1 subwoofer under each seat in the front. I purchased it used, just like it is.

How well will the stock speakers (minus the 2 dinky subs) hold up with a new head unit & amp quality wise? They sound decent as it is, they certainly don't sound great compared to whats on the market - but this is a huge expense for me and I'd hate to get it done and lose quality through a new head unit....

Also, where can I get the face plate setup?? Thanks in advance..

Re: Rockford Fosgate

They will not hold up good at all! Change them out if you are going to put a diff. head unit in.

Re: Rockford Fosgate

Question: Are the highs/mids powered through the AMP or are they running off the stock head unit?

Thanks

Nope, my fault. I just misread. But now I'm wondering, what is powering those subs. You have no aftermarket amps anywhere?

With the RF package, all the speakers are powered from the OE amp. As for using those speakers with an aftermarket HU, that really wouldn't work. The OE speakers are 2 ohm.

Re: Rockford Fosgate

I have an 04 LE and just replaced the RF with a DDX-8017. I used the nissan Scosche NN03B harness to pick up the speakers but found out this won't work with the internal amp. I've read eakes posts on how to bypass the amp but I want to keep everything else stock for now. Basically I'm looking for the cheapest solution to get the audio operational.
How can I reuse the existing factory amp and speakers to work with the ddx8017 ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Rockford Fosgate

Been doing a search on here about the RF system. I have the strippo stereo that comes with the LE, I'm assuming it's a total waste of time to try buying a RF system off someone on Ebay? Trying to do the old "get good sound cheap" deal, I know it never works
Just trying to get some base out of it really...

Money & time would be much better spent on decent sub, box & amp.
