i have an '06 with the rockford fosgate system, and i was wandering if the sound quality of the oem sirius tuner was worth the money. i have heard mixed reviews of an aftermarket tuner being used with the aux port i.e. volume issues-not loud enough etc..the aftermarket route is quite abit cheaper, but if the quality is way off it won't be worth it. anyway your thoughts or comments on this will be appreciated and hopefully save me some cash!

I don't have the Sirius but when I use the iPod I have to jack the volume up on the iPod in order for the aux to sound good. Works and sounds ok but not the best, I'm sure it could be better.

are you able to get enough volume out of it at all or do you have to max the volume? one other question is the quality close to cd or closer to fm. because as far as i'm concerned the fm quality on my truck is horrible compared to my cd.

I have and 06 with Fosgate radio, I also have an 04 with Fosgate radio. The aux level on the 04 required max level from my XM commander plus it was necessary to crank the volume up when going from CD to AUX to get the same level. On the 06 I only need to set the XM commander output to half its max setting to get the same volume as CD (don't have to move the radio volume control). Sound quality of aux connected devices on both models were/are as good or better than CD. RF connected devices (FM) is so poor I would not suggest anyone use that method.
No pictures! The actual receiver box is under the drivers seat - just sits there, not mounted in any way. The antenna is placed on top of the rearview mirror, lead wire is poked under the edge of the headliner, routed to pillar at the windshield, tucked under the trim down to the dash, then around the edge of the dash to the footwell and then to the receiver under the seat. The audio out of the receiver is connected to the AUX port via a right-angle miniplug to RCA stereo adapter cord (available at RadioShack). I have the XM commander control unit attached just above the drivers side air vent on the center dash console using double sided tape. The cable to the control unit and audio cables are tucked under the edge of the shifter console.

I get enough audio out of it and I do not have to max either the stereo or the iPod. At about 1/2 up on the iPod and about 12 on the stereo things sound good. The sound quality to me seems to be close to CD.

I have the Sirius Starmate and use a monster cable into the AUX port and sounds real nice. The volume is all the way up on the starmate and the volume on the radio is at 8

I use my IPOD with the aux input and it plays fine. I have the volume set at 22 to 24 and my IPOD at half.
