ok i posted this for a reason. I get questions like this everyday at the shop. Guys coming in with a regular cab s10 that in his previous system he had 2 18s behind the seat.and he busted out the back glass. Now i am an installer and i have worked on a ton of s10s and i know you cant get 1 18 behind the seat of one unless you have a leprechaun in your pocket or you can defy physics. basically when you go into shop dont try to impress or baffle us with bull****. and please do not pull in with your stereo blasting. we actually can not stand that. And i have yet to see a stereo bust out a back window. i have seen the window pop out of the seal at spl contest and have seen some crack that have already had a crack to start with . but never have i seen one bust out. Now everyone i have talked to on here has been straight up and honest. and basically no bs. but im sure some lurkers with 18s in the back of the truck are out there. We as installers will answer more of your questions if you do not try to blw smoke up our butts. thanks and have fun. and most of all enejoy your truck and your audio system.and remember its your truck do what you want to do it.
lol, glass is pretty tough. i work in the glass industry and aside from those show cars that are made for the sole purpose of seeing how many db's they can put out you will have a hard time blowing out a window. 1/4" tempered glass can safely deflect 1" in and 1" out without breaking so as stated it will sooner break the seal of the back window than the glass itself. i dont know how much pressure subs create but 1/4" tempered glass should be able to take about 70 psf of negative pressure (being pushed on from inside the cab) and still be safe.
Wow! This is a great idea! Can you build my box to fit those 32" Clarions? Oh, and both under just the driver's side rear seat, please. I need the space under the passenger side for my picnic table and chairs, cooler, cans of ant repellant, and personal sauna. And don't worry about my rear glass. I'll just open the slider to vent the sound waves. That way you will hear me when I pull into your parking lot. Thanks!
Thats really funny Tech. To your point. I love it when I go into a shop and they get a punk kid working in there and they try to blow smoke. I love to correct them in front of some senior members of the staff. Just because you work at a shop doesnt mean you know everything. If you dont know you should just keep your mouth shut!
I saw a thread on another forum about an install in some other truck (Toyota). They took out the back seats and then mounted the amps in the bed in a truck tool box.
Thats sick!!! No really I mean, that guy must be sick to think he needs all that. My question is why buy a pickup if your just going to do that?? Why not just buy a SUV?
