sub "popping"

real quick question for you audio guys. i installed a LOC and a MTX amp in my '06 KC. when i turn the truck on the sub "thumps" before the music starts playing. i think it is a bad amp, but i was wondering if you guys had experience with this. thanks in advance.

Re: sub "popping"

Check the wires where you hooked the LOC to...sounds like you got something other than audio wires. You could have gotten a window or power lock wire.

where did you get your turn on power from . if the subs paly and just have a thump. this is turn on pop . your amp is turning on before you have audio signall. turn your radio off with car running and see what happens. you may have hummm. you need a loc with remote out if this is the problem

Re: sub "popping"

sweeeeeet....i get to tear my interior out again to try and find another remote. would it be best to get it from the remote coming from the radio? i would think this would be the best place to grab it. i was just lazy the first time i installed my amp. i guess i won't do that anymore. thanks for the help fellas. i was worried i'd have to replace the amp, which i didn't want to do cause i really like it.

Definately try connecting to your head units remote turn on wire as instructed by tech12volt. If that doesn't work you may want to try a relay on the remote wire. I don't know what other accessories you have in your truck but it's worth a shot. Use a Single Pole Double Throw Relay and connect as follows.
  • Terminal #86 - Remote turn on wire on head unit
  • Terminal #85 - Chasis ground
  • Terminal #87 - 12 Volt + constant
  • Terminal #30 - To amplifier
  • Terminal #87a - Unused

Re: sub "popping"

Could also be an issue caused by the factory amp. What radio do you have in your titan?

Re: sub "popping"

Can you pull power from the factory R/F premium radio? I've heard you must do a LOC from a speaker to power additions to this system. Can you get power from the existing sub feed so it's already filtered?
