WHen i subscribed to xm in 2000 didnt they advertise commercial free music? why is it now when im on my way to work a 30 minute trip. I hear commercials on my damn xm radio. I thought that was the big idea commercial free radio. Maybe im crazy and just losing my mind due to not taking my ginko pills .or maybe they just slide commercials in thinking i would not notice.

Always give your customers more than they expect to get. And you will get more customers than you expect to get.
I thought the same thing. I've found that some of the stations are actual radio stations from around the country. I was driving through Florida listening to a Memphis, Tennessee traffic report. I still love the service though.
ummmm ya, i wanted xm but my truck came with serius free for 3 mo. well thats what i thought the deal was about, no commercals! thats why we pay $ for it right?? ya well theres as many comercials as regular radio, and quality doesnt seem to sound any better. half the comercials are them talking about their own stupid satalight radio stations. Hello! wrong market WE already signed up!. LAME.
Only 70 channels of music are commercial free. Even the ones they claim are commercial free still have a commercial every now and then. I canned xm and stick to the hard drive and the one good FM station here in Phoenix.
If you notice all the commercials, while they do "advertise" product or services, usually only direct you to a website for the company. I bet there's some legal loophole where they aren't actually considered a commercial. It is annoying, but there's still a lot less than on regular FM it seems.

I bet I will still end up getting xm again. Once you have something, you can't go without. Even if it is something you never even liked to begin with.
ya i hate how that works. i said ok sign me up cause its free, im just gunna cancell after 3 months.. but im sure even though its somtimes a pain with losing signal and other small issues, i'll prob keep subscibing. you get used to cerain stations. good marketing
Some of the channels that XM carries are owned by ClearChannel. This past summer/fall ClearChannel began running commercials on their content. At that time XM began some new channels with content similar to the ClearChannel 'stations'. Therefore on some channels one will hear commercials, these are ClearChannel products carried by XM. These stations are usually OTA stations (from somewhere in the country) rebroadcast on XM.
I called to complain and the guy said, "there arent that many, besides thats wut keeps your rates low". He saying that without sponsers we would be getting price increases.

Hey, I am old enough to remember when they used the commercial - free pitch to justify paying the cable company for TV. What they really meant is that they will keep it free until the subscriber base grows enough so that they can get the advertisers to pay them.
