AUX Input???

Has anyone actually taken thier Titan back to the dealership because the aux made the whining noise? I ask because when I use my Ipod through the aux, at a certain point I can hear that damn noise. I even tried a ground loop isolator, which barely helped, and it still is quite crappy. Should I take it back to the dealer? Its under warranty.

Re: AUX Input???

What year is your Titan? I know the 04 had problems with the AUX input. My 05 work just fine, maybe try a new cable.

Re: AUX Input???

Its an 06. I have tried 2 different cables and the ground loop isolator. The second cable was of better quality and claimed less noise, but you can still hear it.

Re: AUX Input???

I have an 04, and I have no problems with my aux in. I do use the Belkin cigarette lighter adaptor, and run the cable from there rather than from the headphone jack on the ipod.

Re: AUX Input???

Its not a problem now since I use the JL Cleansweep, it just pissed me off when I had to use the aux. Eq is turned off and all that good stuff. Thx for the replies.

Re: AUX Input???

The noise isn't a Nissan problem. The noise is generated from the ipod car charger you are using. Try running just off the ipods battery and use an 1/8" stereo jack cable and you'll see what I mean.

the DC/DC convertors in the ipod car chargers are noisy, some more then others. I have not found one that doesn't make any noise so I plan on building my own.

Re: AUX Input???

When you hear the whine, try adjusting your interior light brightness, then click it to the full on position and see if it disappears. I had this problem with an external XM radio and found it to be that rheostat knob and I know someone else on the forum had a similar problem. If you find this to be the problem you can at least have something to show the dealer.

Re: AUX Input???

my 2c....

I also get the whine - PLUS - a clicking noise (tick-tock) if the iPOD is plugged in w/o sound.

These noises have occurred using 3 different iPods - 4 diff cables - with and without chargers..

me thinks there IS any issue with the input jack - I'm planning on visiting the dealer soon..

Re: AUX Input???

My Aux input worked finethe first 6 months on my 05 and then it started sounding like it was under water or it would only play the center channel of music or just instruments and no voice. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times and they called Nissan Engineers who told them to tell me that what i hear is normal and i shouldnt expect it to work any better. They say it is not designed to run an IPOD or Sat radio or even my sons Portable DVD through the IR headphones in the back. The told me to give them $500 dollars for an Ipod adapter???? Bottom line nissan will not fix or replace the radio because of the AUX port. I will try the headlight dimmer to see if that works but other than that I would appreciate any ideas. I do have the RF radio.

Just WTF do they think the AUX plug is for then? That's unbelievable!

I have the same exact problem on my 06. I know the whine is the cable picking up interference because if I remove the cable the whine goes away, but the ticking remains. I'll be having the dealer address it when I put the truck in for its next service.

Update I tried the dash dimmer and the AUX input started working. Now my dealership wants to replace the dimmer. I don't know what good it will do but when it doesn't work I guess I can blame the radio.
