wiring subs?

So i am getting 2 subs - probably just single voice coils. So is it better to wire them bridged and stereo i think that would be hooking them up bridged and parrellel. or should i hook them up in a series and mono?

Thanks

You want subs hooked up mono! You do not need stereo sound from subs(left and right) It depends on your amp and what ohm your subs, as to wether you run them series or parallel.

Re: wiring subs?

What subs you get depends on the amp and vice-versa. How you wire your subs depends on the amp as well.

Re: wiring subs?

Well here is the set up i am looking at.

kICKER kx700.5 - 5 channel amp. Hooking up 2 sets of kicker component sets KS6.2 to the 4 channels and then the sub. I was looking at kicker model C104 -4 ohms 10" Comp Series. Which is a single voice coil and using 2 subs. What are your thoughts?

Re: wiring subs?

I think that amp can play 4 stereo channels and one mono channel. If so, just hook up 2 sets of components in stereo, like normal and the wire the subs in parallel.

I have not looked up any specs on that amp, so make sure that it is capable of playing at or just below 2 ohms.

I personally like Kicker stuff and think you would be happy with what you are looking at.

Re: wiring subs?

Any reason why you want to run a 5 channel amp? I would recommend a 4ch for your comps and a mono amp for your subs. That Kicker isn't going to put out much power to the subs, but if you only looking to add some moderate bass it will be alright. It's going to be tough getting 2ft^3 out of an enclosure for those C10's even in a Crew Cab. You may want to consider another sub that performs better in smaller enclosures. Again, I am not sure what you are looking for. I don't want you to waste money on a system and then be dissapointed with the results. A little more power and some different subs will make big difference. If your sold on Kicker I would spend the extra $50 and upgrade to the CVR10's.

Re: wiring subs?

well i bought one of tech's boxes from a guy on club titan - so i am not sure what the air volume is on tech's boxes.

I know enough about stereo's to get me in trouble and that is about it. so i am open to suggestions. i was looking at the cvr10 - but that is a dual voice coil and i could find a sub that would do either 1 ohm or had enough hook ups for 2 dual voice subs. I was shopping on www.sonicelectronix.com. they seemed to have some good pricing.

i was looking at the 5 channel just to make the install go a little easier.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: wiring subs?

All depends on how you want your system to sound.
