New amps and Tech12Volt Box!

I promised P-Dizzle I would post pics of my "professionally installed"(See screwed down to the carpet) new amplifiers. I am not ashamed of this, but I am not happy. This is a perfect example of what some shops call a "custom" amp install. They had an Excusion in the showroom completely filled with Alpine components and a fiberglass custom console that ran front to back with amps, interconnect, and screens installed in it. All fiberglass enclosure with 8 12's. VERY VERY nice, so Im guessin someone from Alpine did the install, because "my" amps were "custom" installed too!! LOL!! When the shop manager dies, they can skip all the ceremony and bury him, because I already preached his funeral when I picked It up!!!....It sounds really good and clean. I have no complaints on sound. Tech12Volts enclosure is so nice, I can't begin to describe it. Be easy....Be easy.....AND NO DIZZ you can't have my cap. You have to get your own.

Re: New amps and Tech12Volt Box!

I noticed in the third pic that the plastic cover over the Seat bracket isn't clipped down. Not the round disk that covers the bolt, but the plastic that covers the foot of the seat bracket. I did the same thing and could not live with it, had to pull the seat up to get it to clip on correctly. Not trying to knock your set up. The box looks great!!

Re: New amps and Tech12Volt Box!

I appreciate that guys. Hey Tech about that black box, I might holla at ya about another enclosure. I am thinking seriously about removing the seat covers. I will just hit you up when I figure it out. BigBlue, its funny you should say that. Thats one of the things that I griped about to the shop. Nice truck by the way. I appreciate the props guys. I am getting stuff together to build my own amp racks for under the seat. I really like how Blue Water did his on CT. Very Clean and semi-simple. I think I am gonna try to tackle that. Thanks again guys.

Re: New amps and Tech12Volt Box!

Look good, I wish I had a sexy xxk too...Maybe when my tax return gets here. Do you have any high pitched sounds coming from that amp? Come peopl over on caraudio.com were complaning about a bad batch of xxk's right when I was finaly going to have enough cash to get one. Where did you buy it from anyways?

I hear you on the amprack. I still have to find the time to mock one up from cardboard so I can drive over to my friends and weld it up. I'm thinking to use small square tubing and an aluminum plate to mount the amp too but I have not fully decided.

I'm hoping to fit the 1000 watt xxk as well as the 100x2 under the drivers seat in my KC.

Re: New amps and Tech12Volt Box!

Does anyone have a pic of an amp rack? the reason I ask is because I don't think I have ever seen one before. I had 2 amps in my old frontier and they were installed the same way just bolted to the floor. I think your set up looks good CDubya. What seat covers do you have?

Re: New amps and Tech12Volt Box!

Tech12 is building me an enclosure, as I type, for two JL 10W6v2's for my 06 CC. (If you see my sig I have JL throughout. I know a lot of you guys dislike JL but most of it was in my 04 Mustang GT so I swapped some and bought some more. I'll probably change it all out in 6 - 8 months.) I'm really excited about the enclosure. His work speaks for itself so I'm sure I'll be satisfied. I will have to lift the back seat an inch or two but it shouldnt be a problem. I will also build an amp rack for my two amps. I was hoping to get them both under my drivers seat because I have a power inverter and a power capacitor under my passenger seat. My thoughts for an amp rack go like this...
I want to try to get both amps side by side. I will mount them on 3/4" piece of plexi that has been lightly sanded and cut into a frame so the bottom of the amps are exposed for air. It will be secured to the floor about an inch off the ground. Then I will take a small string of about 20 LEDs, countersink and seal them into the plexi. This will create a frosted, glowing rack for the amps. I will also take two 4 inch fans and mount to the bottom of the seat to create more air flow. I may also do the same sort of thing on the passenger side for the inverter and capacitor. What do you guys think?
