Factory GPS Override for safety modes??

Does anyone know how to override the enoying safety features in the factory GPS.. I mean the one that stops you from using most features when the vehicle is moving? This is a rediculous feature. If I have a passenger in the truck with me why shouldn't they be allowed to use the navigation unit?? Nissan really screwed this one up! At a minimum when the truck senses weight on the passenger seat it should allow full functionality of the GPS.. What is the use of looking for a gas station or ATM if you have to pull over to the side of the road.. This is more dangerous than searching the GPS while you are driving...

Anyone have any ideas ??

Thanks

Nav. Hack.
Find the Vehicle Speed Sensing wire going to your nav. unit. I believed it's a White/Red wire (alwyas double check your wiring). Cut the wire and out a simple on/off switch in-line. Turn the switch to cut circuit, now the "passenger" can input data. Once data is input, turn the switch to close the circuit. If you leave the circuit open, the nav. will not display right since it does not get a speed sensing signal messing up it's reading.

This link will give you an idea, it's for an Infinity but same concept.

Re: Factory GPS Override for safety modes??

Thanks.. This looks like a cool way to do it.. Do you know if the wire runs under the passenger seat like in the other link ?? I was hoping there was a way to just enter a service mode on the GPS and deactivate the speed sensing part ??

Thank again!

You can access the wire in the harness connected to the nav unit under the seat. It's the only way, I don't believed you can disavle it in the service mod. it's there for safety/liability reason.
