Exclamation Remote wire for amp on stock radio

I was wondering if it was possible to hook up and amp without that much trouble on a stock radio? I haven't taken the radio out to see what I am in for, but I am sure many of you have. So my question is can I hook up a remote wire and rca cables to the back of my stock radio? Do I need extra hardware or what? feedback would be great!!!

Re: Remote wire for amp on stock radio

You need to get a LOC (line out converter) which convert the high signal to low signal (pre-out) level. If you get one that has a built in amp. turn on line that's one less line you have to run. Factory HU does not have RCA outputs or amp turn on wire. Qwikwhip has a write up of how to get pre-out with out a LOC.
How-To:Getting a pre amp signal from OEM midline 6-CD stereo

Just get a LOC, tap it to your rear speakers wire.
