Wiring issues (Speakers going nuts)

hey guys,

quick wiring Q.

i just tapped the violet wire in my RF HU for the remote 12v power for my amp. I tapped the rear left speaker with the LOC and when i tried one speaker all was good... i did the same wiring and hooked both subs up to the amp, cleaned up a bit.... then my car wouldn't start.

after jump starting it i got a loud boooming sound from the subs and had to turn the car off to get it to go away.

i disconnected the power to the amp and unhooked the LOC wiring....

any idea what's going on?

id appreciate any input.

thanks,

ian

I had (2) 1985 Toyota Supras. One was immaculate and stored for about 12 years. Also had a 91 Turbo Targa. I Love Supras'. Just about bought a 98 last year but got a G35 instead. Should have got the Supra.

Re: Wiring issues (Speakers going nuts)

The infamous POP huh? That sucks. You may want to tap one of your speaker wires and use a relay to turn the amp on and off. If the booming sound is constant when the vehicle is running you have power/audio interference. Seperate your RCA cables from the Power cables. Try not to cross them at any point and run them on opposite sides of the vehicle. You can loop your Power cable but do not loop your RCA's, S them if you have extra.

Oh, and you need to tap both right and left speakers for the LOC.

Re: Wiring issues (Speakers going nuts)

Your vehicle wasn't hooked up to the jumper cables when it made that noise was it because that will definately send signals through your speakers.

That is what I am talking about tech. Other vehicle, jumper box or battery charger. That sound isn't pretty.

Re: Wiring issues (Speakers going nuts)

Nice Supra. Growing up, my uncle had nothing but Supras so when I turned 21, he gave me his 90 Turbo. Man that thing was fast....but the motor burned out, so I ended up selling it to one of my friends who is still trying to rebuild it after 4 years, lol.

Re: Wiring issues (Speakers going nuts)

thanks!

it was hard letting it go as it was my project all through college and i invested well over 20k in it....

i just cleaned my install up and will vaccuum and finish the project with the window tint protector and i will be done...

** also i just found one huge source of rattling...

i was outside of the car and noticed that the cover for the gas tank rattles like mad!!

im going to go to home depot and find a thick piece of rubber to wedge between the frame and the metal cover, this should eliminate all of the noise i hear in the rear!!

i'll let you know how that goes.
