Parrot Wire Harness

I have a Parrot 3100 for my 2004 Titan LE with 6 cd Rockford stereo. I purchased an interface harness from Quick Connect Products for it and although the functions work, there is a very loud disturbing POP when the phone goes on or off.

Anyone know of another harness manufacturer? Appreciate any input.

Re: Parrot Wire Harness

Just installed the exact same setup in the exact same truck, and I've got the same problem. Not sure whether it's because of the harness or the kit.

I have a separate speaker that's a hold-over from the Nokia CK-7W that I just removed (not entirely compatible w/ my AT&T tilt). This weekend, I will try tapping the wires to hook up to it rather than the stereo speaker to see if that helps. Next option is to re-wire to the relay I had installed w/ the Nokia kit that simply killed power to the amp for the "mute" function. I'm not entirely certain how the Parrot kit/harness is doing the muting, but I've got a pretty good feeling that's what's causing the pop.

Will post again here w/ results as well as pics of the install.

mhwo, where did you mount the display? I'm not sure where I want mine yet. I'm leaning to the inside of the open compartment just to the rear of the shifter.

Re: Parrot Wire Harness

A few days bring clarity to the situation.

The pop is definitely a product of the harness - not the Parrot. The way it performs the "mute" function in the Titan is that the black-box on the harness actually switches the signal going to the amp from the HU to the Parrot and back again. As I'm sure everyone knows, amps that have a signal started/stopped when they are powered up will pop. That's the reason they have a delay in their circuitry tied to the turn-on wire.

I will give the guys at parrotkits.com / Quick Connect Products props - they responded to my customer service e-mail within about 20 minutes (at 7:00 PM their time on a Friday nite, even). Their e-mail confirmed the problem described above, and offered me a full refund on my harness (which cost more than the Parrot, BTW) without me having to ask. I am going to take them up on it, but I will also suggest to them that they modify their circuit to cut amp power during the switch to alleviate this problem. Their harness hits the turn-on lead, so it should be possible.

Other than the annoying pop, they have a great product - it truly was plug and play when installing. For anyone interested, they also have a blank harness that fits the Parrot connectors for custom wiring without having to tap the Parrot harness. I was going to get one, but just decided to tap the one I had while I had the dash apart today.

As promised above, will post pics later of the install showing location of the Parrot controller, but I'm waiting on a mounting bracket for my phone that's coming from Panavise, and I wanted to do it all together.

Hope this was helpful for someone.

Dan
