Re: Parrot Wire Harness
A few days bring clarity to the situation.
The pop is definitely a product of the harness - not the Parrot. The way it performs the "mute" function in the Titan is that the black-box on the harness actually switches the signal going to the amp from the HU to the Parrot and back again. As I'm sure everyone knows, amps that have a signal started/stopped when they are powered up will pop. That's the reason they have a delay in their circuitry tied to the turn-on wire.
I will give the guys at parrotkits.com / Quick Connect Products props - they responded to my customer service e-mail within about 20 minutes (at 7:00 PM their time on a Friday nite, even). Their e-mail confirmed the problem described above, and offered me a full refund on my harness (which cost more than the Parrot, BTW) without me having to ask. I am going to take them up on it, but I will also suggest to them that they modify their circuit to cut amp power during the switch to alleviate this problem. Their harness hits the turn-on lead, so it should be possible.
Other than the annoying pop, they have a great product - it truly was plug and play when installing. For anyone interested, they also have a blank harness that fits the Parrot connectors for custom wiring without having to tap the Parrot harness. I was going to get one, but just decided to tap the one I had while I had the dash apart today.
As promised above, will post pics later of the install showing location of the Parrot controller, but I'm waiting on a mounting bracket for my phone that's coming from Panavise, and I wanted to do it all together.
Hope this was helpful for someone.
Dan
