Factory Sound system problems

I am having a problem with my factory unit.

I think it might be a ground problem, but dont have an idea, I am not that good trying to solve problems out.

If I have the Stereo on while the engine is not working, everything sounds perfect. No problem at all.

But when I start the engine, the front speakers will cut out. If I hit the brakes, use a window switch, or use anything electrical in the truck, like turn the lights on will give me the problem if the engine is working. Then I need to tap the brakes or use a window to bring back the sound, but it will not stay working for long. If the engine is not working, there is no way I can replicate the problem.

I think it might be a bad ground or something like that, but I have no idea, and dont know how to ground the HU.

Thanks for the help

Re: Factory Sound system problems

It does sound like a grounding problem. I've never had mine apart so I'm not positive on the wiring, but the grounds are usually green, I believe. I've seen a couple other threads on here recently about this type of problem. Did you look through the Audio and Visual threads?

Re: Factory Sound system problems

Yeah I tried looking for a thread on grounding the HU, but have only seen some for aftermarket HU, and they dont seem to have some directions on how to do it...

I might be able to come up with a wiring diagram, but not sure that would help you.

Re: Factory Sound system problems

Ok, I get that it's the 2006, LE 4x4, but is it the premium R/F or the basic unit?
