HC2000 is perfect. Battery warranty's are usually BS. After the first year they are all prorated anyway. I have never had a problem with a Kinetik battery. Most company's will give you a some lame excuse why the battery went bad and not cover it under warranty anyway. My vote Kinetik HC2000 100%.

Re: Need Suggestions: Amps and Wiring and Battery for KC.

One of my favorite companies for amps is Lanzar's Optidrive line. Yes the rest of their amps are the same as Boss, Legacy, Pyramid, etc. But the Optidrive series is a great amp and I have been running them for years. MSRP on the OPTI1000D is $530 but you should be able to pick one up for about $225.

OPTI1000D
- Phase 0-180 degrees
- 0-18dB bass boos
- Low pass filter 50-250Hz
- Subsonic filter 15-40Hz
- 650 RMS @ 2 Ohms
- 900 RMS @ 1.3 Ohms
- Fuse 30A x 3
- Dimensions 10.08" x 2.12" x 12.59"
- 2 Amps can be bridged

Re: Need Suggestions: Amps and Wiring and Battery for KC.

A good 2 channel amp for your comps with a super small footprint is the OPTI2X300D measuring 6.6" x 1.69" x 11.41". 150 x 2 RMS @ 4 Ohms. MSRP is $375 but you can pick this amp up for $165. These amps aren't a direct match but this is a hell of a setup for under $400.

Re: Need Suggestions: Amps and Wiring and Battery for KC.

I have not tried the PDX series from Alpine but I have never been impressed with any of their amps. I had a few clients request all Alpine systems in the past and I don't care for any of their products besides their head units. I used the MRD-M1005 last year and at the same price it wasn't half the amp my Opti is.

Re: Need Suggestions: Amps and Wiring and Battery for KC.

Whatever you decide I wouldn't spend to much on amps because you will never hear the difference. One quality amp is as good as the next. Just don't buy junk...

Amps I recommend.
- Sundown (from what I have heard)
- Diamond
- Memphis
- Nakamichi
- Arc
- Audison
- Us Amps
- Helix/Brax

I feel that way as well, to some extent. But I thought eclipse was quality and I'm pretty sure the ARC 100x2 will blow it away. Now I do have my limitations but I think I'd like to step it up a notch for some real quality this time around. The nice thing about those PDX amps is the way they stack and they really are tiny. My friends 1000 watt is WAY smaller than my Hifonics 300x2 @ 2ohm 150x2 @ 4 ohm amp.
but I'm hesitant to buy a class D amp without whatever tech it is using for my front's. I just don't want to have any issues there and I have spent enough money already. I think I'd ratehr have non matching amps than have something that won't fit or is not exactly what I need.

Perhaps I should stick with the hifonics for now and just ditch my eclipse that has some minor issues. The hifnoics gets hot but I have had it for many years without any issues. (like 6-7 years now)

Now I just need some advice on that Alternator wire and how to hookup the Battery terminal! Heres a better pic of what I have going...

i ran my 0g down under the fire wall and then to the frame and up into the passenger side panel .so i did not have to drill any holes at all.

Re: Need Suggestions: Amps and Wiring and Battery for KC.

What is your question? You need to run a wire from your alternator to your battery. I have not done my Titan yet, but I believe the cable coming straight up to your teminal is the factory alternator wire. Connect the alternator directly to the battery.

I see Ascendant has teamed up with Scott Atwell. I can only assume their prices will increase despite their claim fro better pricing.

No idea how you did that since I could not find any openings, I had to drill a hole in my firewall.

But I was asking more what P-dizz was answering. The problem is that the stock power side battery terminal has a bazillion wires coming off it and built in fuses. The stock alternator wire goes to the terminal which is connected to the battery.

In order to use 0ga wire to the amps I bought new terminals and made an extention to the factory terminal. But I still don't have 0ga wire running from the alternator to the factory terminal which is kinda important and I would like to finish it up. I believe the stock wire (4ga?) is welded/soldered/crimped to the terminal I did not see a way to re-use the factory terminal AND use 0ga from the alternator. So I'm wondering if it would be better to just ADD a second wire form the alrernator directly tot he battery and what the easiest way to get at the alternator to do this is.

Re: Need Suggestions: Amps and Wiring and Battery for KC.

Use a ring terminal and cable just like you did with your extension to connect to the battery. I have not looked at the alternator yet but I would assume you will need to solder at that end.

Re: Need Suggestions: Amps and Wiring and Battery for KC.

As far as batteries, the Odyssey MJT1750 slides right into the stock posiiton. It's only slightly larger than the stock unit. You even get to reuse the stock, pinch clamp to hold it in place.

I've had mine (actually two in a dual battery install) in for over a month now and love it.

Regards,

John
