You guys seems smart, help me spend my $1500!!!

Yo.

So, since I'm a research junkie, I've been gearing up for my summer spending spree on my truck. I bought it in November and...haven't done a damn thing with it yet. First things are Exhaust, Intake, maybe a "chip" whenever they come out, but, once all that's said and done I'll be throwing $1500 into the sound system.

I already have some pretty "sure" things.

1. I'm buying a box from tech12volt. Tech12- if you read this, because I live in Alaska I'm trying to keep shipping costs down. I have two scenarios I'd like to discuss, which I'll shoot you a PM about but I'm thinking about going with a single DVC driver, either 10" or 12".

2. Speaking of subwoofers...recommendations???? Again, probably looking @ a single 10" or 12" (probably 12) DVC. Is there any reason why I should go with 2?

3. AMPS. I want one for my components and one for the sub...recommendations PLEASE.

4. Head Unit- I'm pretty sold on the PIONEER PREMIER DEH-P880PRS. Good price, great reviews, looks like it would go pretty well with the interior of the vehicle. Any other recommendations? Also, tech12 can you hook me up with a Metra for an 06 LE (dual-climate control)???

5. Component speakers- What should I go with here? Brand and quantity? I'm lost...

Ooo...and maybe some recommendations of where to buy this lovely stuff???

Ok, that's it.

(I'm sure this has been beat to death but, you all seem so helpful that I figured I'd give this a go. If y'all don't want to help that's cool, just let the thread die. )

Re: You guys seems smart, help me spend my $1500!!!

I've only got one thing too say...look at my mods...and look at my track times with an untuned truck.

These mods work together well with each other. I have good low end hence my 2.1 60's at the track. My mid and top end are decent hitting 92 mph.

Follow my mods...you won't be disappointed.

Re: You guys seems smart, help me spend my $1500!!!

Hey thanks everyone! But...I think I may have confused some of you by not being more specific in my original post.

I meant to say I plan on spending $1500 on the sound system itself.

I'm really only looking for recommendations on the sound system at the moment...the other stuff...I'll be asking plenty of questions about later, just not in the Audio Thread.

Thanks again!

Re: You guys seems smart, help me spend my $1500!!!

I like 5 channel amps . especially if you will be running one sub. i would suggest on your budget. mempis mc 600 5 channel. memphis m1 sub 10 ich dual 2 ohm. 2 pair of memphis msync components 6.5s . and the pioneer head unit.

Re: You guys seems smart, help me spend my $1500!!!

Personally, I'd save my money for a nice system, audio/video, in my house. Seriously, an auto is horrid for good sound, no matter how much money you spend. I have yet to be in a car/truck that sounds anywhere close to a good home system. Unless you spend a good amount of time in your truck, save your money.

You asked for it...that's my opinion.

or if you rent and would not even be able to get any use out of a home system like me :P

If your on a tight budget, Ascendant audio makes really nice budget subs. I would look there, then you can get a good box and amps and HU (eclipse CD8443 and 8444 on Caraudio.com for sale right now for only about $250) and front stage.
