Re: alpine type X....

If you are sure its the Type X then its too deep to put in a titan unless you want to give up the back seat. You need a sub with a much shallower mounting depth.

Re: alpine type X....

If you take some time and do a little reading you will find TONS of info on different peoples setups.

Tech 12 is the man for boxes. He will build you a killer box setup exact for your sub. It wont be a prefab box but one custom for your needs. He will also give you all the advice you want just send him a PM.

You can go with sealed or ported. That is your call on what you want. Clean sounding bass or really loud rip your head off. Tech has a couple designs for each.

Re: alpine type X....

Never heard of them? Are they a premade generic box?

Re: alpine type X....

If you want maximum SPL then ported is what you want. However if you dont put the right sub and box together it could be a bad combination!!

Ported boxes are much more difficult to work at their best than a sealed box because of air space, port size and length, and tuning frequencies, etc.

If you have a sub in mind talk to tech 12, he'll be able to make them work perfectly together to get the most bang for your buck!!

Re: alpine type X....

If you want a ported box I would recomend having one custom built for your subs. Now I have had pre-fab boxes that worked excelent with the subs I chose but some of it was luck or picking the right sub for the box.

If you REALLY want Bass do a Bandpass setup, it will be even louder than a tuned box. But, you are sacrificing alot of SQ...

Re: alpine type X....

What is up with this Alpine stuff? Somebody needs to set down the Jim Beam. LOL. Alpine does not make very good amps or subs... Look into Sundown Audio, US Amps, Opti, Elemental Designs or Memphis for your amps. TC Sounds, RE Audio, FI Audio, Sound Splinter or Stereo Integrity for subs. 2 12" ported should do the trick. Tech12volt can build you an enclosure. Never buy prefab boxes. Your gonna need a lot of sound deadener...

HAHA! I'm not sure they are the worst, they do use 3/4 and caulk the joints! Better than some boxes I've seen. But the bottom line is its still a prefabed box, and they as a rule suck.

The one I saw was 5'8" MDF evn know they say 3/4" and it was very cheap wood. The caulking is a joke. It is more of a bandaid the way companies like this build enclosures. The carpet was the cheapest crap made. These boxes suck period.
