Sub box frequency calculation?

I am trying to upgrade my stock midline stereo using gear I already own. The subs I have are 10" Rockford RFZ1410. I want to put one in a .34 cu ft box under the drivers seat and use my Alpine mono sub amp w/ speaker inputs.

Does anyone know how to calc the frequency characteristics using the speaker specs? Are these the specs needed? FS=32, QTS=.49, VAS cuft=2.34.

I know this box is tiny for this speaker, but my budget is $0 and just trying to make it work.

Re: Sub box frequency calculation?

That sub will never work in 0.34ft^3.

Re: Sub box frequency calculation?

try pulling that rockford speaker and putting a bunch of fiber fill in that box.

The rockford cheapo 10" is a decent sub for the price, i had a pair when I was younger. If you're running two subs, I would almost certainly bridge them down to 2 ohms on that amp.

Re: Sub box frequency calculation?

Thanks P, I won't even try to put one in that small of a box. Until I can get a good 8" driver I will build a larger box and put it under the rear seat for a 10". I saw a post on an Elemental Designs shallow mount sub. It said the 10" can go down to .3 cu ft. Any feedback on these? They seem pretty reasonable.

The SQ10 is a great sub. If your building under the rear seat no reason to go with a shallow sub.

I really want to have the space under the rear seats for storage. I am just building a box for the RF sub that I own to see how it all works. Then I can convince my wife how car audio fits into the budget, then buy a shallow sub and put it under the front seat. Piece of cake. Thanks

Re: Sub box frequency calculation?

If your just looking to add a little bump the front seat is fine, but your not going to get a whole lot out of that location. A compromise may also be an option. Use half the rear seat for a 10 and the other half for storage.
