Multi channel or 2 amps?

Audio gurus. Debating to either get a 5/6 channel amp for Full system or just get one 4 channel and one mono amp? I was looking at the memphis belle amp. Any input appreciated.

Depends what you want to do really.

single amp is less to mount and makes a cleaner install.

Multiple amps makes your system a little more versatile. For instance I want to change my sub I don't have to buy a differnet 5 channel amp. or I buy a sub that needs so much power I can't find a 5 channel amp and need to keep the existing one and add a second amp anyways. or I change my components and they need a little more power so I need to buy new amps, or bridge 2 of the channels.

If you know the amp works with all your components, and subs, it fits the dimensions you need, and you will not be swapping or upgrading later. Then by all means go for it.

Yes, I hear/read memphis makes good amps.

Re: Multi channel or 2 amps?

Key question is what do you plan on running for subs?

Re: Multi channel or 2 amps?

right now I have a rockford fosgate t1 10" from a few years back, running in my 300zx. I think that the mounting depth is too much though, 6.5". Other than that, I was thinking about alumapro's.

Re: Multi channel or 2 amps?

The thing about 5 channel amps is the mono channel is usually not very powerfull. If you only need 300-400 RMS then it will be fine, but seperate amps gives you a lot more options.
