It looks like all they do is install flex loom if the wires are fine. However if they are not it looks like a very complicated and time consuming project just to replace a simple harness!
Not a simple harness. It starts at the kick panels and runs all the way back to the back doors, it branches across under the seats, across the back wall, and branches up to the headliner.
Yes it is, but the reason for replacing instead of repairing it is because of the wiring for the seatbelt pre-tesioners and seatbelt tension sensor for the airbag system runs in the harness also. Nissan does not want the SRS wiring repaired, just replaced due to the legal aspect and the critical nature of the SRS wiring.

Had my driver side harness replaced this week. Took two days but everything seems fine. No new scratches or squeeks.
