Re: Help! Air Bag light on

During the installation you disconnected a wire critical to the air bag system. This generated a fault code in the system. Even if you reconnect the wire the fault code is still there. You need to use a code reader and clear the fault code.

1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again.

....the dash will prompt you when you need to switch the key via the red key flash....

...thank you for posting this....I can't beleive how wound up the airbag light had me... ...I don't think I've wore a pair of shoes since.....

Re: Help! Air Bag light on

For a second, i thought this method really didn't work. Then i decided to take a peek under the passenger seat, only to find that the idiot that installed my LOC didn't reconnect the airbag harnesses!!!!

Worked on the first try after i clipped the 2 harnesses in.

I'm so glad i dont have to pay $90 tomorrow when i go into the stealership.

Re: Help! Air Bag light on

On a side note,
That code will still remain in the memory. But yes, its from turning or leaving your ignition on and dissconnecting the airbag light on the front bezel.
