Thanks to James I am now the proud owner of an installed DNX 8120 and a ported box loaded with 2 RE Audio 10's. Looks and sounds awesome!

Re: Thanks Tech!

Thanks for driving over man. Man all I can say is The Metra kit for an 06 with DUAL AIR SUCKS A$$. Its the biggest piece of crap I have ever used. No way was I mounting a $1300 headunit with those plastic pieces that attach to the sides of the kit. I literally bolted this thing up in the dash 6 times atleast with factory bracket and took itback out each time and drilled the brackets out more untill they lined up with the kit properly. The kit did not even fit right without a headunit in the vehicle. I will be calling Metra tomorrow and giving them a piece of my mind. That kit is not strong enough to hold up the weight of a DD unit and i was not about to mount it that way. The way we did it with factory brackets is much better!!!!!!

He actually ended up doing the SR 10s in the ported enclosure and it slammed. It was nice and loud. Really loud. And we played no RAP just Disturbed. My whole building was rattling. Heres some pics.

Re: Thanks Tech!

That was the biggest pain to make look right. If you only could have been here and watched me bolt this thing up and pull it back out so many times.

Re: Thanks Tech!

I wish there were some competent installers here in the NW. Every shop I've been in either looks like a chop shop, or charges way too much for an install.

Re: Thanks Tech!

I hate to say it but most shops would have just bolted this thing in like it said to do and let it roll. There was no way it would have stayed in the dash, I literally worked on the headunit install for a couple of hours atleast doing the mounting.

Do the regular size head units have better install kits?

Its the pretty much the same in the dual air vehicles. But the single din only weights half as much.

Re: Thanks Tech!

James is certainly a perfectionist, and it shows in his work...as he said he literally took that thing in and out about 6 times. As far as how does it sound...I am no audophile, but since having it I have listened to a whole range of different music (up to around midnight last night) and all I can say is wow. It is loud and still sounds good. I just need some component speakers and it will kick some serious ***! If you are waiting to pull the trigger on this box, go for it!

Yeah dude. Hey James, he heard the 2 boston 10's with the sundown amp combo that you offer. I still LOVE the set-up I received from James. soooooo clean. And it sounds way better in the summer. I listen to mostly rock and alternative. There are a few rap songs I like just b/c the bumps/beats hit HARD. I would recommend this setup to anyone!
