Eventhough you have owned hundres of amps and have one of the nicest collections of anyone I know he still thinks that the "kids" on the other forums with their Directed amps are better and thats fine.

E,
Why do you keep asking the same questions? It seems like you have your mind made up so just pull the trigger already, its not a life and death decision.
And....I don't have my mind made up about amps or I wouldn't be asking about all of these products. Its not a life or death decision but it is my money, unless you want to fork over the money for me purchase this stuff. Its great that you know what type of collections some of these guys have, but I don't. It seems that you have developed some sort of trust with them and I assume that didn't happen over night. All I want are honest opinions about my questions. Have you read any thread or post that I've started that has said compare "X" amp or sub to Sundown's. No! It would be nice if a person could just give comments on their experiences with the things in question and not have to debate weather or not its better than the other things out there. Don’t get me wrong, I welcome the opinions that some products are better than others. Many have done just that and its been and its been great to get those suggestion other products to consider. But does it have to be an ongoing debat over something that you are heads over heels in love with?

Like I said, I get it...there are some of you would believe Sundown's are the best thing since slice bread and I respect that. But give others a chance to chime in with what their experiences are. I have a feeling the most people do not even what to post because they are afraid that they will get jumped by one of the "native gurus" here. Hell, I’m starting to be on of those people myself. I’ve seen so many post start off by saying “Well I am sure that there will be others to jump in and slam my opinion”. As a matter of fact, I’m beginning to wonder how many audio enthusiasts there really are at Titan Talk!

Re: Directed AMP's???

We are just giving our opinions. Everyone will always say what they have is the best. Doesn't matter if it is Rockford, Eclipse, Kicker, Polk or whatever. Most people have only heard a few decent systems in their life so of course they will think what they have is the ****. I don't buy an amp, throw it in my vehicle and call it a day. I buy many amps and thoroughly test them head to head in a multitude of different setups. I do the same with comps, subs and everything else.

We know this is your hard earned money. We see folks waste it on crap all the time in this industry and that is why we are here with our recommendations. Don't be affended if we tease you a little bit. For those that are scared to make a post because of what someone else will say. Please let your ovaries drop...

I don't think people are scared I just think that there are not willing to be swarmed with debate for their opinions. You are not just giving your opinion. You've already stated how you feel about Sundown amps so why do you have to keep drilling it in. I don't care too much for teasing. We don't know each other like that if its all the same to you.

Re: Directed AMP's???

HAHA... umm nothing... whats with you?

Are there better amps then Sundown, sure, but you are going to pay a lot more for them and you probably wont be able to tell an audible difference. I will respect the fact that you dont want to buy Sundown. However I dont have to agree with your reasoning. Some of the greatest things come from new companies every day! When you try and argue that Directed, one of the worst names in car audio is going to perform better than Sundown or other brands thats what got us worked up and defending Sundown. Honestly I dont even own any Sundown audio stuff. I have Arc Audio amps that I bought before I heard about Sundown. After going and listening to some of the products they will be on my shopping list next time around. Maybe you should look into Arc, the SE series is very nice and they were designed by one of the premier designers in the industry. The problem is that the cheapest one (the 2075 that does 100x2 @4 ohms rms) retail for about 800 bucks though and they go up from there. Or check out ZED Audio, he has been around a long time too. He actually builds amps for a lot of the big names out there.

I will be the first to admit that I dont have the history that people like James, 'dizzle, or even Sundowz have. However I do know the difference between the good stuff and the junk that is out there. I have also learned that car audio shops blow a lot of smoke and most of the people working in them are idiots. They have to just to stay in business, especially with car audio going the way it is.

My point is that we have all tried to help you and it seems like you just keep asking the same questions, first with the head unit, then subs, and now amps. Are you looking at new speakers too, what about sound deadening and wires? You asked everyone what they thought and then when they gave you an answer you argued with them almost like you are trying to defend yourself. There is nothing personal here, we are all just trying to help you get the most for your money.

If you can get JL audio for cheap then I'd buy that. The stuff is ok and you will at least have a brand that everyone recognizes, not to mention its at a local store so you can return it.

Since you are a fairly new member here you probably dont know the long history that we have around here answering many questions truthfully and trying to be as helpful as possible. There have been many people here who asked advice and have been satisfied with the results. It just seems like you are so hung up on this stuff. I understand that its your money and you need to make the best decision, all the more reason to pick the "best bang for your buck" brands. Like the Boston and Sundown. haha I couldn't resist!

Go back and read...never said that DEI was better than Sundown. Only that they seem to be one of the more efficent amps when we were disussing the amount of power a amp would draw in when compared to the power it would produce. I'm not hung up on anything. If you don't want to answer my questions about the diffent things I'm looking at than don't. And yes, I'm doing a complete redo of my system. I think that you were one of the ones totally against me getting the Pioneer Z2 and I actually love that unit now that it is in. I don't deny that there has been a lot of helpful post here. I can honestly say that I've been helped myself. By the way, why don't you show me on instance where I have ask the same question and I will be done. I have ask opinions over different products and have given my opinion of what I've read in response to see if there is any truth. I apologize if anything diffenent has came across in my messages.

I've gotten good feedback on Zapco. Finding a dealer or someone who has one is another thing. Would love to see these two in action first had.

Stick with Sundown amps. Save money and don't buy into the hype.

Re: Directed AMP's???

I have a JL 500/1 amp I paid $368 for it new. Very happy with it. I would however buy a Sundown amp in a minute for the price point vs. quality/efficiency. I am considering upgrading my main amp from my present JL 300/4 to the SAX 100.4. I just gotta make sure it will fit.

As far as DEI for amps... nah... I won't go there. But they rule the security sector though. Where did you get the info that they're amps are so efficient? Just curious.

It was from the claims that they have on their website along with an internet seller that I've known for a while. This guy and I are not really close friends, I just use to work with a guy that knew him very well. I've also gotten stuff from him in the past at pertty good prices. Just a pain in the neck if you need to return something for warranty work.

Zapco amps are nice. The man that started that company Robert Zeff left there and now designs the amps for Arc Audio.

Macintosh amps are too nice to be mounted under a seat.

Yeah, but JL's gains and boosts are easier to set.
