Re: hid kits

The housing design is what lets out all of the "unwanted" light. The D2R/D2S buld is not supposed to go in our housing. Those are OEM HID bulbs for Lexus or Mercedes or Acura....etc. So where does that leave me.......keeping my 9006 HID "blinders" in and aimed correctly, unfortunately the high beams are not aimed now since the install. I called and verified this with the distributor.

Looks good maybe I will try those when mine burn up. Those almsot look like halogens. My Ballasts clearly say D2R on them I can post pictures if need be. My bulbs do not look like those ones though.

Has anyone found some HID bulbs that have the proper connects for the foglights? Mine screw in properly, but I had to wedge the spade type of terminal into the factor plugs and I think this is leading to my problems with only one bulb turning on every so often. Then again the ballsts for my Foglights looked older and have a narrower voltage rating as well.

try using some electrical tape to secure your fog spades. thats what is keeping mine at bay currently....or heat shrink would be better.

Yea thats what I did, unfortunately every so often one still does not turn on the first try (but they always start on the second) perhpas it is because I did not run new wires I dunno. not a huge deal as it's just the foglights anyways.

Oh yea I bought some cheap taiwan Ebay HID's that actualy seem to work better than my JDM's so I can see how they can be hit and miss. Work better meaning less warm up time on my dad's dodge. Then again it could be anything causing that. The best HID's seem come on bright instantly but are very expensive...

Re: hid kits

Ok, so here is what i have ordered and will be posting results for. I found a rebased D2R/9006 hid bulb set that is supposed to keep the correct aiming points from the factory. I had to buy a set of D2R OEM bulb wiring connectors to fit the D2R. Hopefully i will be able to obtain my old factory aiming points and keep my HID output where it should be!!!!!

Re: hid kits

I have the newer d4r HID's in my 04, they actually are oem toyota ballasts with rebased bulbs to fit the 9006, I like them alot, they give out a huge amount of light with very little scatter.

Re: hid kits

I installed the "rebased" 9006 HID bulbs and i have to admit they are alot better than the regular 9006 HID bulbs. They are covered in the spots where all the light was scattered before. I could bring the aim back to stock vs. the other HIDS had to be aimed way down. If anyone is thinking about doing the HID install i HIGHLY recommend these bulbs i speak of.

Re: hid kits

See all that annoying glare from that picture above???? With the "NEW" rebased 9006 bulbs you dont have all that. The light is directed where it should be, not everywhere and blinding people.

Re: hid kits

Maybe it was the way that picture was taken but that does look pretty bad in terms of light scatter. I know I get blinded looking directly into my HIDs but when look at it's beam pattern and where it hits on the road, it is not so bad. I also aimed my fogs down but left my lows in the same position.

Re: hid kits

Thanks for the review on the bulbs, in a few years when mine go bad (If ever) I'll look into these new bulbs as well.

Although I have not had any really bad glare problems with mine, There is still room for improvement.

Here's the new pricing on the JDM kits... Good quality from what I've read.
