Clicking from dash tweeters

Hey all,
I just installed some tweeters that I had from and older set of Polk component speakers. I basically just replaced my factory tweeters with these. Now I am getting a clicking noise from the tweeters when I am at higher volumes. I am only running a Kenwood head unit with 22X4 RMS to Infinity kappa 6X9's in front, 6 1/2 in rear, and the aftermarket Polk tweeters. I am pretty much an audio moron, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Zack

Re: Clicking from dash tweeters

There are no crossovers in the factory setup - just resistors on the tweets. Your old polk tweets probably need a crossover - without one you are sending them a full range signal. And that's what is causing the clicks.

Either go back to the factory tweets, or add a crossover - even if you just pull from the high side.

Ahhh, good point. I have the old crossover from that set that I can throw in there. Thanks a bunch!

Re: Clicking from dash tweeters

Yeah there needs to be a capacitor attached to the + side of the tweeter, it filters out the lower frequency signals so you don't damage the speaker.
