08 Titan radio wiring

I don't know if this has been asked. I have a 08 Titan without the rockford system. It does have the six disc changer. I am trying to install a double din radio. I got the dash kit and wiring harness. My problem is when I pulled out the OEM unit, I noticed it had 5 connectors in the back. The wire harness only had two. Which ones go to what. I tried using the two that the fit into the harness but the radio still won't power.

Re: 08 Titan radio wiring

Yes, there are five connectors at the rear of both the 6 CD and Fosgate radios. Two will fit the connectors in the wiring adapter sold for aftermarket radios. The other three are for: 1. Front panel bezel, 2. Steering wheel controls, 3. Satellite radio. None of these are needed when using an aftermarket HU, although there is a kit which can be purchased to allow steering wheel controls to be used with most HUs.
Since the radio is not powering up, recheck the wiring to the adapter from the radio and verify that you are getting both permanent DC and switched DC to the connector - a fuse may be blown, typically this would be a 20A fuse for permanent DC, it's located in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

Re: 08 Titan radio wiring

When you say switched DC. Is it going to give a 12V reading with the ignition off or only with the ignition on.

Re: 08 Titan radio wiring

Switched DC will read 12 volts with switch in ACC and ON positions, will read 0 volts with switch OFF.
