Out of date on what brands are still good, please help!!

I have a 06 Armada and I am interested in spending some decent cash on a indash DVD/GPS system. Guy at the local told me Pioneer is the way to go and not Kenwood. I need something that has rear camera capabilities,mp3 jack as well as hooking up additional DVD screens. Once again, I am out of date on what to buy, what products are available for car entertainment, need some advice and how much I should spend too.. please be kind.

Re: Out of date on what brands are still good, please help!!

Did the guy tell you why he suggests Pioneer over Kenwood? Was he a Kenwood dealer?

Pioneers have been known to have preamp issues so for that reason I'd avoid it if I had the choice.

I think this is the one to buy right now.

Kenwood 8120s are in

Re: Out of date on what brands are still good, please help!!

I have to agree with t22a80 and hemislayer. I use to be crazy over pioneer HUs until I tried installing a amp and using the preouts. I would get engine noise in my speakers. So now I have a kenwood HU and I have two amps installed without any noise.

Yeah, thats what I thought. Ive been out of it since the mid 90s. I have trusted Kenwood for as long as I can remember and this guy is telling me Kenwood isnt all that anymore, yet he offers me Kenwood monitors to go with my Pioneer touch screen. Yeah, I think Im going somewhere else. Kenwood does sound ideal.

Re: Out of date on what brands are still good, please help!!

Those are nice amps but I was 4. lol

I got into bass competitions with a Trans Am. I had 3 MTX 12's, Sony, and Power Acoustik cheap amps at the time. I got a lot of sh*t for it from the guys at the comp when I pulled up. Until I pushed a 145db SPL right after the guy in a civic with 3 JLs and Memphis amps... lol.

Once I got into College I went with better sound quality and picked up the RF Amps and went with a mix of alpine type-s/infinity reference speakers as well as a 12" inifinity VQ at 400W rms. After that I knew that Infinity had a very nice sub... Except now when you pair 12 years of drumming with about 4-6 years of 130+db bass = bad hearing.
