Question amp ground location?

I tried the search but apparently I suck at it. I'm sure this has been talked to death here so I apologize in advance.
Where has everyone grounded their amps? I'm installing my amp underneath the drivers seat. I assume many use the seat mount but what connector do you use? The spade terminal and "round" terminal I have are way to small for the diameter of the seat bolt. I'm using 4 gauge cable for power and ground. I thought about removing the center console and looking for a good point under there but it looks like this involves a lot of work (yeah, I'm lazy). Thanks in advance.

Re: amp ground location?

I installed my amps on my rear wall (behind the rear seats...yes there is room) I believe I grounded everything to the rear seatbelt anchor, if not that then somewhere right next to there.

If your going under the seat than maybe you want to use a seat bolt.

Re: amp ground location?

Yeah, I'm planning on using the seat bolt. Problem was the diameter of the seat bolt was bigger than my ring terminal. I just drilled out the ring terminal so I shouldn't have any problems now. Thanks for replying.

Re: amp ground location?

Shorter the ground cable the better.

Amp location?

Does anyone know where the amp is located in the truck? I am having problems with my speakers at high volumes, they start giving out. Please let me know. Thanks

Re: amp ground location?

At first I used the front right seat anchor bolt...but I didn't like 2 things about that location... 1. I couldn't see if the ring connector had total contact due to the seat mount foot making contact to the crimped portion of the connector. (If that makes sense)
2. Any time I needed to mess with the amp (redoing amp board, replacing sub box and speaker wire, adjusting LOC..etc) I had to unbolt the seat and either remove it (PITA with all the LE connections under it) or lean it back against the back seat.

So I connected the ground to the pre-drilled and threaded hole on the small hump infront of the seat. (the hole is almost centered between the front seat anchor points.) This also shortened my ground cable compared to when it was ground at the seat anchor. I'll get ya a pic this afternoon. If ya need it.

Re: amp ground location?

My amp is mounted under the rear seat and grounded with a seat bolt.
