Need help on HU install

I have a Alpine IVA-205 installed in the Titan and it sticks out 3/4". I would like to have this sit flush. the stereo shop tells me that they'd have to cut the support beams behind the radio to get this done. I talked with another member here and called the stereo shop where he had it done and they said they had to trim the bracket. Anyone else here have this done. Also I notice on the alpine the mounting depth is 6 1/2" so is the the pioneer AVIC-Z3. Aren't there members here that installed the Pioneer? Here is the pic. of my stereo install. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

Re: Need help on HU install

We'll I found the problem. The support bar behind the HU is in the way. On the Alpine, the RCA's plug are in the back and I have 3 sets. On the Pioneer you have RCA coming out the back with pig tails. The bar is in the way, they cut a little of the bar out, but in order for my hu to sit flush, I'd pretty much have to remove it. So there it is.

That bar is in the worst possible spot! I have to jiggle my wires a bit to make mine fit too.

Hopefully your dash wont fall apart when you cut it! JK!

Here is my friends Rav4 for comparison. The first pic doesn't do the lift justice!

I'm leaving it sticking out a little. I don't want to remove the support beam. It's there for a reason. I can either keep the Alpine in there and use the nav. or I can get a pioneer installed or possibly the Kenwood dep. on the RCA cables.

Re: Need help on HU install

Its probably there so that they can assemble the dash outside the truck then just put the whole thing in at one time. However its pretty stout so Iwouldnt want to cut it either way.

The bar is part of the frame. If it were compromised, I would hate to think of what the cabin might look like if the truck sustained a side collision!

I agree. Oh well I either change the HU out or live with the Alpine sticking out a little....

Re: Need help on HU install

I have the same exact HU. What I did was go to radio shack and buy these 90 degree rca adapters. They're like $2 each, and you'll need 6 to 8 of them. It looks real unprofessional, but it worked for me and I never had an issue with the sound quality. The face plate will match up perfectly. You"ll need about 8 because on the top 2 rca jack you will have to use one into the Hu and one into the adapter in order for that rca cable to be flash enough to fit. The Hu will be real snug against that back bar.

Take care,
Ron

Re: Need help on HU install

I installed this HU in my titan last week and had the same problem. I just unplugged the middle set of rca jacks (the rear output) and pushed it in. It was a very tight fit but better than cutting the suport beam. Hav'nt had any problems yet.
