Hey guys, thought I'd share my latest addition to my truck with ya. Just got Sirius and loving it...I put 1.5-2k miles on the road every month for work, and right now I'm not sure how I went so long w/o it!
Anyways, I spent a couple hours yesterday doing the sirius antenna-on-break light mod, and decided I didn't want GPS AND Sirius wires laying all over the place, so I routed everything behind the dash. I drilled a small hole in the middle of the center coin tray above the radio, cut a small slice through the rubber mat, and secured it all down with trusty double sided tape. I wasn't sure if I wanted to attempt to hardwire anything, so I ran the cig adapters along the inside lefthand side of the glovebox, and found that there is enough room there that it will still shut when they are plugged in, or I can tuck them in the glovebox when not in use. I think it turned out pretty nice...

I did pretty much the same thing with my XM Unit. But! if you remove the radio panel you can unscrew the aux input jack from the panel. Then plug your siruis into it behind the panel and then it will be completely hidden. I then covered the aux jack hole in the dash with black piece of plastic. then i got a 12 outlet extension cord at radio shack. cut the jack end off and spliced it in behind the radio panel as well. then plug the sirius power cord into it inside the dash as well and boom! no wires outside at all. I can take a pic later if you want.
If you get a chance I would be very interested in seeing this. There aren't too many other convenient locations to mount one of these without blocking something.

I put my gps on the little circle area underneath the middle left vent where I think the 4WD switches are for those with that option. The metal disc with adhesive fit perfectly there and it is in the perfect position for viewing gps while driving, I didnt hide the wires though. The battery lasts 8 hours and I dont use it that long normally.
Attachment 64900Hey, i had my sat. receiver there and i moved it to the overhead console. What do you think?
Sorry for the hijack.
This is exactly what I have thought about doin to mine as well. I did an install to my 240sx that took the place of one of my DIN openings. It is perfectly clean.

LOL...over 3 months w/o a comment on this post, then BOOM!
Anyway, does anyone know if there is a easy way to plug in to the back of the panel like described above, but retain the use of the aux jack from the outside? I'd need to be able to plug my Ipod in when not using the Sirius.

You would have to splice in a second jack to the wiring in the back with a switch to switch between the two.. Wouldn't be too hard to do.
i used a p.e.i that plugs into the wires on the back of the r.f. stereo. It gives me two inputs that are controlled by the aux. button on the radio.they are conned directly w/rca inputs.

I spliced in to the AUX behind the panel for my Sirius tuner. When you plug in your Ipod, just turn the Sirius tuner off and your Ipod sounds fantastic.
