Amp Install question.

how much power wire is needed to go from battery to rear seats in a KC? also i have usually put the fuse under the hood but does it matter where you put it or does it need to be a certain distance from battery or amp? was going to mount it inside the truck.

Re: Amp Install question.

Fuse placement doesnt really matter, as long as its on the power wire. As far as how much wire you need, it depends on how you are going to run it, and which side of the truck you put the amp on.

Re: Amp Install question.

Wiring Depends on which side you run the Wire, i say maybe 12ft... Better to get more than you need though, just in case.. excess can be cut off later

Fuse should be put near the battery, i believe farther away from the Amp

Re: Amp Install question.

I think I bought 20' of power cable for mine and I had plenty. I also ran it through firewall on the passenger side. The amp is mounted under the passenger front seat.

The fuse needs to close to the battery.

I don't remember for sure, it was quite a bit though! I was originally planning to install the amp on the rear wall, but that is not easy in a KC!

10 or 12 feet should be all you need

Re: Amp Install question.

You should put the main fuse as close to the battery as possible. I think its supposed to be between 12" and 18" from the battery. I'm not positive on the exact number though because I usually buy the kits that are all pre cut for this.
