Need help wiring amp to stock radio

Hi there, im having some troubles with figuring out how to wire my amp to my stock radio. I bought an LOC but im not sure how to wire it. I see it has male rca plugs so i assume it plugs directly into the amp and i have to either splice it with speaker wires that are near by or splice longer cables to run it all the way to the radio.

Ive done tons of searching on this site but i feel as if im missing something. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Including wire routing or any other tips on installing a system. Im completely new to all of this.

I'd be curious myself as I'm going to use an old amp/subwoofer. Any help on this one would be appreciated.

Double check the top of the audio video forum, should be two stickies up on the top that will give you either an answer or basic idea.

Re: Need help wiring amp to stock radio

You have the basic idea. You wire the left and right speaker wires to the LOC and the RCAs on the LOC go to the amp. The leftover wire on your LOC goes to a chassis ground. The amp is wired to sub.

Re: Need help wiring amp to stock radio

Here's what I did:

I removed the stock sub under the drivers seat. I mounted the LOC to the floor air duct. I then connected my LOC to the 4 wires that used to connect to the stock sub. However, my LOC has two female RCA ends, unlike yours that has 2 male ends. I ran the RCA cables to the back wall of the cab where the amp is mounted. Here are some pics:

Hope this helps.

The wires are under the drivers seat is that only if you have a R.F. system?

Re: Need help wiring amp to stock radio

I know this thread is old, but I was always under the impression that the LOC hooks to the headunit, not the speaker wire??

You can do it behind the headunit, or at the location of the subwoofer.

Headunit probably sounds cleaner as its before the stock amp

No, the LOC convert convert the high output signal to pre-amp signal.
Most OEM unit will not have pre-amp signal.

You can do it behind the head unit but you're still tapping into speaker wires there and not any other wires. Most people do it with the rear speakers wires so that they don't have to run a long RCA cable

Re: Need help wiring amp to stock radio

Alright I think I got it. Seems like it would be much easier just doing it in the back. Where are the rear speaker wires located? I have non rockford.
