Question New LT tires do I need to get TPMS reset for higher pressure

I had Firestone put on some new LT tires (towing travel trailer across country for next few years) 275/70R18E's. I am not sure if the TPMS needs to be reset for the higher pressure in new tires verses the old P265/70R18's. Not sure how system works. Looked in owner manual but it didn't help. Love the new tires though.

No, you don't need to do anything with your TPMS. There's only a lower limit alarm, not an upper.

Red face Re: New LT tires do I need to get TPMS reset for higher pressure

Seeing that my Titan (that I love dearly) came with passenger car tires, that use 35 psi, I put on TRUCK tires, that use 42 psi. Will the TPMS tell me when the pressure gets too low on the new tires. I was not worried about it telling me about too much pressure. I would think that I might have to get the system reset to tell me when it gets 3 psi below the 42 psi. I may have phrased my question wrong the first time, sorry. After thinking about it I called Firestone (didn't speak to the guy that helped me originally, he seemed very competent) and the guy told me that if one tire gets lower that the other three it would tell me. That did not sound right to me so that's why I posted here. Thanks.

Re: New LT tires do I need to get TPMS reset for higher pressure

The TPMS is set to go off at around 28 PSI. On our trucks that did not come with factory nav, there's no way to change that. I'm not certain about those with nav though.

Re: New LT tires do I need to get TPMS reset for higher pressure

The TMPS sensor will actually pick up tire pressure set too high. When I got my new tires put on in the summer the shop pumped them up to 65 psi. Once i started driving down the highway and the tires heated up the light would come on. I lowered the pressure after checking into the problem to 55 psi and i havent had a problem since.
