Brake problem - new rotors/pads = rotor heating up

Hey guys,
I just installed new rotors and pads on my Titan.
I am having a bit of a problem though. My right rear rotor is heating up badly.
I can jack the back end of the truck up and spin the tire back and forth by hand, but not freely. It appears the pads are touching the rotor slightly, enough to give that burnt break smell and to heat up the rotor so bad the wheel is hot.

I took everything back apart...pushed the piston back in freely.
But it still is doing the same thing???

ANY IDEAS???

Thanks guys!

What is up with the park brake shoes?

Talking Re: Brake problem - new rotors/pads = rotor heating up

I am wondering the same thing. During the past few weeks I could smell my brakes in the garage after normal driving on very cold days. For some reason the brakes were extremely hot.

Not exactly sure what you mean by park break shoes...I did check the parking break shoes and all is fine. It is clearly the pads catching.

WHEN YOU GUYS INSTALLED AFTERMARKET PADS DID YOU INSERT/INSTALL THE THIN METAL SPACER THAT SITS NEXT TO THE PAD. IT APPEARS TO NOT HAVE ENOUGH ROOM AS THE PISTON IS NEARLY "BOTTOMED" OUT. IT LOOKS AS IF I REMOVED THE TWO SPACERS, ONE ON EACH PADS, IT WOULD FREE UP ENOUGH ROOM???

ANY IDEAS ON THIS?

Thanks,
Caleb

Did you check the seal on the piston? I had one crack which allowed dirt in and the piston wouldn't back off properly, when it happened I had to wait for an hour for the wheel to cool down enough where I could take it off.

Did you grease those slide pin bolts or checked if they were scarred or bent?

Re: Brake problem - new rotors/pads = rotor heating up

I put on a new set of rotors and pads on my wife's vehicle. They heated up so much I couldn't touch the wheel. They were grinding too. The vendor replaced both the rotors and pads and all is fine now.

I'm also in the same boat, I have the rotors and pads replaced under warranty (16k miles) and now I have to do it again at 36+K miles.
The dealer is now saying that it is driving habits.

Should I take it back or replace them myself? I've had my brake warning light come on and the Slip light.
