Another "what size can I fit" thread.

I've got an '05 2wd with a 2.5" leveling kit. I'm currently running 17'' offroad OEM wheels with OEM Bridgestone Duelers in a 245/70/17. What is the largest tire I can run, specifically a Terra Grappler, that I can run with no rubbing? What is the largest tire I can run if I were to do the pinch weld mod?

Thank you,
David

You can run the 33.2"x11.8 LT295/70R17 D without pinch weld trimming or mudguard removal, and maybe the 34"x12" LT305/70R17 E, (mine needed the pinch weld mod, because my rims stick out 1.4" more than the OR rims). The 33.86"x11.3" LT285/75R18 E would actually be a better match than the 305's for a 7.5" width OEM 17" rim. The speed rating on the 285/75's isn't as good as the other two though.

With a leveling kit, I'd probably get the 295s though since they are tall enough for that much lift, wider and a better speed rating than the 285/75's, and 7 lbs. a piece lighter than the 305s. They are also probably a little cushier since they have a D load rating instead of the 305's and 285's E load rating. They are also a better match for stock gear ratios, although aftermarket gears are available. If you have the 2.94 gears, the 295's would definitely be the better choice if you're keeping stock gears.
