Balancing Weights?

I had a flat yesterday morning, and was going to take my wifes' Xterra for new tires so I threw they flat into the back to get patched. To make a long story short, After i got home I noticed 4 or more marks on the inner side of my rim. Probably about 2" x 1". Are these stick on wheel weights or what? Will it hurt if these have been removed and wheel weights have been added to the edge or bead of the tire? If I had a camera I would post some pics but no camera. Any help would be appreciated. Oh by the way I have the 18" SE 5 or 6 spoke rims if anyone wanted to know.

A lot of places use the stick on weights depending on what type of rim, nothing to worry about. Rim/tires are computer balanced, the computer tells the tech where to put the weights, then after intalling they recheck the balance to make sure.

The SE wheels have stick-on weights toward the outside of the wheel (behind the spokes) and clip-on weights on the inside of the wheel. The outside rim is not made to have the clip-on weights. If you remove the stick-on weights, you will cause your wheels to become unbalanced, making for a very bumpy ride.

Not to worry, like Big Platinium says they always check them to make sure. I have 22 wheels and I looked at one of them and it has like 50 of those 1/4lb weights. They are stuck at the back and on the lip only way to see them is if you really look hard and inderneath the truck to look on the other side. I was scared at 1st when I saw that many and started to ? why it need so many but with the tire and wheel that i have it need to be computer balance right; hate to waste more gas and steering problems later on down the road.

Think that I figured out what the marks were. I checked and my other rim didn't have stick on wheel weights so I am assuming that it was some grease or something on the machine that was used to hold the rim while taking off the tire. I wouldn't think that it would take 5 or 6 weights to balance a tire. Went to Birmingham (About 50 or 60 miles from the house.)Saturday and everything rode well. So, I guess I was just being a worry wart.

Low quality tires and/or low quality wheels have less uniform construction and will generally take more weight to balance.

The average 22" wheel is made more with bling in mind than anything else, and, when comparing wheels of identical materials/fabrication method, they tend to be much lower quality than a good 16/17/18" wheel.
