One More Big Tire Thread

All right guys I have a few questions. I did some seraching first so forgive me if any of these particular items have been discussed.

1. Has anyone put 305/70/17 on oem off-road rims?

2. Has anyone put 305/70/17 tires on their Titan with Prerunner Gregs Leveling Kit? Do you think they will fit?

3. I know that Goodyear MT/R, ProComp MT and ProComp AT come in a 305/70/17, do you guys know of any others or do you have any opinions or experience reagrding these tires?

4. If anyone has put this size on their Titan, please post pix.

I am sure that many of you are thinking the same way I am; trying to put as big as tire as possible on this truck without compromising the ride. So any responses and opinions are much appreciated.

Finally, my Titan was born on 4.40.04 and besides break dust has been problem free for the first 4K miles, this really is the best truck on the road today!

Looking at tirerack, I think the widest tire for the OEM 7.5" wide rim is a 285

Actually I did find another tire, the mickey thompson baja radial mtx in a 33X12.5X17 with an approved rim width range of 7-10 inches. Has anyone run a set of these?

My local tire dealer also said that I could use the Mickey Baja Radial in 33x12.5 17... Im thinking about buyin it, its way much cheaper that the BFG, Toyos, Nittos...

Anyone knoe a good place on review for mickey thompson? tirerack does not have those tires...

Yasser- Can you tell me some more about the FC II's. How is the ride? Are they loud? How are they in the dirt? How many miles have you got out of them?

Do you have a Tundra and a Titan or are you getting ready to trade the Tundra in on the best truck ever!

The G-Year MTR's are a great off road tire. They will do just about everything, but they are soft. You won't get a lot of miles out of then compared to a lot of other tires. They are really quiet too. I have 35" on my 89 4 runner, they are great in the dirt, rocks, mud, etc.

Well, they're apparently made by Cooper. I've never liked Coopers.

I installed tires for 4 years to put myself through college, and the biggest tire I'd try to fit on OEM O/R rimes would be Nitto 295/70/17's.

I personally wouldn't try 295/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers w/o a leveling kit. You will rub.

As for the Nitto's cons vs. the stock tire... I'll tell you this: BFG Rugged Trails suck arse. So, anything is going to be better than them. If you want to stick with BFG (I don't know why you would - they're underperforming and overpriced), go with a 285/70/17 All-Terrain KO.

Wet?
Sand?
Mud?
HIGHWAY?
Dirt road?

I would expect the MTR's to outperform the Rugged Trails hands down on everything except wet/dry pavement. They are excellent.

I put my lift on about a week after my Nittos. I had no rubbing during that time through the whole range of lock to lock, even pulling in through gutters at near full lock. But they were, and still are, tight. I would expect problems without a lift if using any wheel that sticks out further than my 5-inch backspaced 17x8. Even with the lift there is only about 1/2" at certain points.

The Nittos seem very good. To early to tell yet about wear. The BFG A/T's wear forever, I can say from experience.

Does anyone have any experience with the **** Cepek FC II, the tire looks sweet and is available in a 33X12.50X17. I would like to try it on the OEM off road rim and hopefully wont rub with the leveling kit.
