Alright, so I'm buying new wheels and tires. Going with a 20" this time around. My favorite tire on the market right now (besides KM2s) are the General Grabber Red Letter tires. I've heard mixed reviews from them, but that was from people who never ran them, just heard other people. So anyone who has ran these, are they a solid tire? Am I going to get a good amount of "life expectancy" from these? I've had my KM2s on the truck for 4k miles and they look brand new so just hoping these will last a decent about of time. Also, how do they handle in the rain? Here in MS, AL, we don't really get snow, but driving good in rain and mud are pretty important. So overall, how was y'all's experience with this tire?? Otherwise I'm going to either the Toyo MT or the Nitto Trail Grapp. Thanks!
okay I know you said from personal experience but one of my good buddies has them and i've driven his truck once or twice. He's had em 15k miles I think now and they've gone down a decent bit but probably have another 10-15 left. Around there I would say. but that being said they ride GREAT with no noise....and handle even better in rain without a problem.
Thanks Matt. Ill take any reviews, I just want first hand experience, whether it was yours or a friends. I'm wanting them to last close to 40k miles. Is that realistic? It's just they do cost like 1500$ for a set of 4 so I want them to last lol
I'll talk to my buddy and see if he can get me some pictures of the tread when he first got them and now and exact miles. I should know around tommorow and will post up here when i find out.
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT DO IT!!! for serious i got it they look bad as hell and they have some pretty decent traction but they wear horribly fast. horribly fast. one more time horribly fast. i think that the handling and comfortable ride and fast wear come from them using a super soft material idk im not an expert i do know they should last longer than a year though!
If you want a tire that's good in the rain and will last 3-4 years with what you state above, get the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's. I had them on my frontier and they were the best inclement weather tire I've ever had. Absolutely no hydroplaning and good in the snow if it ever comes your way. When I say good in the rain, I mean ludicrous good for a truck tire. Even when going across areas where the leaves are on the road and it's wet they had traction. Just crazy. their main problem is life expectancy as well. They lasted 34K on my truck. Had more in them, but with a newborn at the time, it wasn't worth the risk to me while driving so I got rid of them. Just an FYI for you is all.
Lol General Grabbers are terrible, like everyone is saying their life expectancy is way too short.
The reason why you hear some guys saying they are great, is because the NON-DOT ones are great. If im not mistaken, the NON-DOT Grabbers are Bias Ply, meaning they dont have steel belts. And since they are not legally allowed on the road, they can make them out of different material.
If you want the Grabber's tread design and style, without getting a new set every 6 months, then get the NON-DOT version. They're only illegal on road
hey bro i'm from mississippi and i've been stationed in the desert with the marine corps for the last four years my titan is a mix between pre-runner and back home mud and i'm definitely getting grabbers for it now that im home they are the best tire I have personally experienced we had some on the jeep yj with a 12" lift we built and we literally did everything with them from sinking it in the mud up to the seats to mountain climbing in big bear driving on i-10 in between places granted you do have to rotate them because of how hard of a tire they are but they are literally the go anywhere tire plus the red labels look badass as long as you don't wash them with the wrong tire cleaner and fade them
I've had General Grabbers since august 2011 I've got almost 50,000 on them. Had I rotated them regularly I might have got more milage out of them. But I'll need a new set this winter. I also admit had I been less liberal with the throttle I might have made it to 60,000. But I don't know. I do know these tires rode well and had excellent snow and wet weather traction and did great in mud and sand.
